I too have used PC World for the purchase of a computer bundle (computer, printer etc). When the digital camera that came with the package broke down I phoned PC World in Colchester to get this repaired, I was told to bring the camera into the shop and they would look at the problem. This is by no means a short journey, and when I got to the ... Read the complete review

Reading other people's reviews of PC World, I would swear they all shop at my local branch, but that would be impossible. This can only lead me to the staggering conclusion that they're all this bad. I have been wrongly advised by spotty-herbert floorwalkers twice (in both cases, their descriptions of what a specific product would ... Read the complete review

We are *lucky* enough to have a huge PC World within a few minutes drive of home. Very handy I hear you say, and we thought so too. Often on a Sunday afternoon we could be found browsing for something or other. An internal modem, a printer cable, a digital camera. It soon became apparent that the staff were not only not very knowledgeable on ... Read the complete review

Business Direct is the 'business' version of PC World. In my previous job, we had an account with PC World for which we used to order all aour consumables as well as software and some hardware. PC World overall should be avoided, there stores are full of idiots who at best know very little about PC's. ... Read the complete review

I bought my computer from pc world approx 18 months ago,a packard bell club 30.I wasn't given much information about it ,it seems now as if all the salesperson wanted was to make a sale.As a newcommer to computers it would have been nice to have them spend a little time to just explain what the computor did/what hardware/software it came ... I was buying my first home PC and decided to try PC world, aswell as all other local shops and I found it was definately the best out of the 8 or so I tried. I think that if you go in knowing nothing about computers you run the risk of spending more money than you need to, so it would be best to have an idea of what you really need before you go ... PC World is probably the best place to buy computers. It is handy because it is in the town centre, not like some of these other places that are miles away. Some people say that PC World is too expensive but that is not true. How can it be? PC World offers great service and has smiling ladies in it. Some of the computers are really modern ... In many ways, PC world are like the McDonalds of the computer retail market. You find them on out-of-town retail parks, they all look disturbingly familiar, they're staffed by people who couldn't really care less what you want (but always strive to sell you the next biggest thing on the menu), and most importantly of all, no matter how ... Big is beautiful or is it? I have very mixed feelings on PC World, yes it is huge & the product range is vast, but the staff! If I want to just browse I always seem to get jumped on! I feel the staff must be on commision, when browsing I want to be left alone to choose & after the 4th or 5th advisor asking if I need help tends to send me straight ... Read the complete review

There are only three reasons I go to PC World which are that you can get their hardware and software price matched, can look at the boxes and find out what it has got in it and because it is local in most places (well in my area they are). There pricing strategy is abysmal as their products can be price matched easily and you could save hundreds ... Read the complete review

I bought an Advent computer two years ago from PC World - it seem near impossible to find anyone who could answer my simple hardware questions. After three people couldn't help the manager had to go get the manual!!! I purchased the computer and when i got it home...constant crashes, and the CDRom may as well not even have been ... I am now on my third PC from this store this year and I would like to back up other comments that they are robbing b******S. After 16 visits I finally went to trading standards but was told that I could not reject the goods because too much time had passed since I bought them and also because I had allowed them to fix the previous 15 faults. PC World (UK) staff should be trained about their products and learn how to smile. The company needs a major customer service overhaul. I have rarely been into my local superstore (I won't say which one) unless it's been the last resort for something I really wanted or needed. A few months ago I wanted to buy a small portable ... I have only one thing to say about PC World. Their prices are terrible. If you do like I do and constantly check the prices of PC hardware to get the best deals then you will notice a pattern. PC World, Dixons and Currys are all charging very similar prices. And those prices are all inflated. How can I say that, well mainly because I get computer ... Read the complete review

No it seems to me that all of the workforce in PC World's UK stores are thick and do not know a thing about computers? Does anyone else agree.? Now this is an interesting place! It seems to me that the majority of the workforce and so called techinal staff don't know to much about computers and the actual industry. They don't even try to help you to well! and mostly stand around talking to each other! Oh and when i was asking about laptops they came out with some ... Read the complete review

PC World is okay if you know exactly what you want. Don't go in on a Saturday afternoon and ask the spotty-faced assistant for some intelligent technical advice. In my experience they don't know what they are talking about...and even worse they PRETEND they do! They are very happy to push the extended warranty on the expensive ... Read the complete review

PC World is a brilliant place to buy pephirials like graphics cards, sound cards, hard drives, dvd drives, cds, and etc... Apart from buying stuff like that and games it is crap. Software is brilliant selection. I don't reccomend buying a PC from there as there is crap service and they keep the computer in for ages to be upgraded. They ... Read the complete review

It seems the general opinion about PC World is quite bad. Mine isn't better either. Although PC World used to concentrate on PC stuff over the time they have introduced some Apple Mac products. Some time ago I had a Mac and needed to get some software for it. Not wanting to go all the way to PC World I decided to phone them up. I asked my ... Read the complete review

PC World is definitely the better of the two evils. It has a great advantage above other computing retailers with it's incredible choice of software, PC's/Laptops, and all the peripherals you could ever need or want. The opposed view is usually the price. It's not the cheapest retailer alhough saying that for the quality of goods i ... Read the complete review
