Premium Review DO NOT BUY FROM THEM THIEFS !!!!! (160 words)

I bought a computer system from them, it was cheap at the time, and they were all nice to me until I gave them my credit card number. After that, the problems started. There were delays in the delivery. They were speaking to me like I was nothing until I threatened them to get my solicitor in touch with them. Well, two days later I received the machine. They said to me that the motherboard was an ATX, with USB ports on it, but it was an old piece of junk. About 2 months ago, I wanted to sell my computer for a better system. I then found out that they were going into liquidation. The five years guarantee on the computer was going to the gutter. Results, I cannot use ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Protek Idiots (166 words)

Cowboys ! That's the only word that can describe this company. I'm glad to hear from another review that they've gone out of business. I bought my computer from them in 1998 - it's now 2000 and I've just sorted it out. I think they just put a collection of components on the desk and swept them into a box. The problem it seems was that the modem they supplied was not compatible with the processor they used, according to the documentation on the modem disk! I could have done that ! The lesson I learnt is only buy this kind of stuff from a shop or somewhere that you can EASILY take it back to. My system went to Devon twice after it was ...  Read the complete review

Note for all those who have recently ordered from Protek and those still responding to their advertisement. They have as of Monday 3rd July 2000, ceased trading and may well be going into liquidation. The liquidaters are Jackson Norton of Bristol. Recently I had the misfortune to order a system from Protek, yes they are cheap, yes you have the facility to upgrade some of the components. But that is all it has going for it. I ordered my system 8th of June and am still waiting. Trying to get through to these people is not good at the best of times, now it seems they don't even answer their phones. BT say there is not a fault on the line, it must ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Protek - no pros at all (206 words)
by - written on 23/06/00 (Very useful, 149 readings)

Protek computers are perhaps the cheapest mail order company found in the computer magazine. Before you jump ahead with your credit card to purchase a computer for bargain prices, repeat after me. “You get what you pay for”. The computer we ordered experienced a four week delay in delivery, over the estimated delivery date. This meant that six weeks passed before it was delievered. What makes it worse is their slow to answer telephone customer services continued to give empty promises throughout that period saying that ‘it will be there in a couple of days’. When we did finally get it, the keyboard was broken, the mouse missing ...  Read the complete review
