Advantages: Very cheap systems. Good Alternative to paying for a spec you won't use

Disadvantages: Some 2nd user systems don't come with software installed

If you are always thinking green then be sure to look at recycled options when choosing your I.T. equipment. That's what I did when I was asked to provide 30 computers for a local school project.

A large percentage of the time people, schools and businesses do not require the latest computer hardware if they are only going to be used for internet surfing and standard office applications. That is the biggest con in the current market place.

I looked at several companies and compared prices before purchasing 30 2nd user DELL PCs from RDC. These were ex-corporate machines that had been checked and then had the data wiped which meant that they had no Operating System installed.

The lack of Operating System wasn't a problem as the school concerned had bought the software it required elsewhere. RDC say that they don't install software onto ex-corporate machines as this would obviously inflate the price.

I was also able to pick up some refurbished flat panel screens at the same time - something I had not expected on a limited budget.

Delivery was arranged as soon as our payment had been received and soon enough the systems were delivered to us.

Overall I was very impressed with the service, quality and price of the equipment.

Summary: For bulk purchases of cheap systems this is ideal.
