If you value your time and your sanity don't purchase a computer from RDC Trading!
My friend's computer broke beyond repair and she asked if my husband would look out for a good second hand one for her, for about £125.00.
We came across an advertisement in a computer magazine for RDC Trading's web site advertising refurbished computers. They apparently buy bulk loads from businesses and refurbish them, they even advertise a service to dispose of them in accordance to official guidelines.
We took a look and found just the right computer at the right price.
Well, after my friend made her choice of computer I ordered it for her using my credit card. We thought that it would be plain sailing after that, how wrong we were, two days later we received an email explaining that they needed proof of who we were, because the name for the delivery address was different to the name on the credit card, we faxed a utility bill to them, and they told us that the computer would be delivered approximately seven days later on the Monday between 9.00am and 5.00pm. We also gave them my friends neighbours address just in case they wanted an alternative.
My friend waited in all day! and no computer arrived, I had to call RDC to see why she had not had her computer delivered to her, the explanation we received was that they had tried to deliver at 2.00pm but no one was home, she was home, as I explained she stayed in all day especially to await delivery. So how come they did not leave a card to say that they had tried to deliver. RDC explained that they would deliver again in two days. Two days later and my friend waited in again all day, just when she thought that she had wasted another day waiting in for nothing, there was a knock on the door at 5.00pm, hooray! it was her computer. Now all she had to do was wait for my husband to travel down to Rochdale to set it up for her.
He went down two days later to install win
dows, but during installation windows starting complaining that it could not find files that were on the disk, and reported some errors with the CD Rom drive. After close inspection we noticed that the side of the computer had a large dent in it where the CD Rom drive is situated, we also noticed that the box it was delivered in was also damaged, and so presumed it had been damaged during delivery.
I informed RDC of the damage and they arranged collection, but we were informed that a credit would not be placed back into our account until they had received and inspected the returned computer. We thought that we would give them the benefit of the doubt and ordered another replacement, well when that arrived, my husband travelled to Rochdale again to install windows, only this time the CD Rom did not work at all, so we were unable to install anything.
I arranged yet again for RDC to collect the offending item, they apologised for the difficulties that we had been experiencing, and said that these were very isolated incidents, and that they had a lot of satisfied customers. I had to wait approximately two weeks for them to refund my money, and then it was £12.97 short of the original amount, four weeks later and I still have not received the £12.97 owing to me.
If these were isolated incidents then how come I had two.
