Advantages: None
Disadvantages: overpriced and no good
Move over Mr Spock. We have seen your adverts but we know the truth about your products. You are overpriced. You sell bad gear. You give us no customer support. Reason being? My mum nearly bought one out of the paper. This is where they do most of their advertising with Leonard Nimoy drapped all over the back of it. They are highly overpriced. Sometimes I have seen processors not as good as P3's or Athlons in these machines and they are for sale for about £1400!!! I cannot believe it! They say, "all of this free" Printer,Scanner,DVD Rom,Software. Excuse me but that is normally a deal in most packages nowadays and they offer all of that plus a P3 or Athlon for about a grand. Someone needs to have a word in Spock's Vulcan ears and tell him... "better chips and lower prices" I know people that have had similar experience with these "paper" deals from Gateway and Tiny. They promise you so much but deliver very little. In fact, my best friend has a Time computer. Its about 2 years old now and he got ripped off BIG STYLE. He had no end of problems with it. Because it was mail order, he had no shop to go back to. Problem number one. Then when he tried the helpline number, the people lacked knowledge and were unable to help. Problem number Two. I had to basically rebuild it for him and re-install all of his software for him. My advice is avoid Time. You are not getting what you pay for and shop around. You can find better and cheaper. Paper deals are not worth the paper they are printed on if you pardon the pun.

- 24/02/01 I agree with your opinion, in moderation, my school bought 10 PCs from Time three years ago and only 2 bit the dust during that time. Until last week, I wrote all my dooyoo opinions on a Time PC, so there!!!
Its now gone back to school though and is relagated to hours of endless playing "Noddy" for its troubles, with 6 year old kids.
You can actually negotiate with Time as the printers they throw in for free are indeed not worth touching with a barge pole. My friend asked for a top of the range HP printer instead of a crappy Epson and they only had to pay a fiver administration cost. I agree you can buy or build one for much cheaper, but some people who lack the "nouse" about PC's want peace of mind and are willing to pay over the odds for guarentees, helplines, etc. Not sure whether Time offer this adequately enough though, as I've heard so many horror stories. |
