Argos Value Range Electric Hand Mixer
by Taz123456
I am not exactly an avid baker but there are occasions such as kids' birthday parties or a girly get together that usually motivates me to make a few small fairy cakes or small deserts. Therefore this Argos Mixer was an ideal purchase for someone like me, who needed a basic mixer for the occasional baking session.
The price ... was the main reason why I decided to opt for this one instead of more expensive branded names, as there was not much point spending huge amounts of money on an item that I wouldn't use that often. I remember buying this from my local Argos store for around £5.00, which is a bargain in my opinion.
The mixer is white coloured and is covered glossy plastic and comes with two whisks and instruction manual. In my opinion it looks more expensive than it actually is and has a fairly attractive design. It has air vents located at the end of both sides, and an easy to hold handle which made mixing mixtures less tiresome and easy.
It is that simple to use that even my nephew and nieces use it (under my supervision), with the lightweight design making more child friendly. Another advantage of being so lightweight is that during long whisking periods it rarely makes my hand tired or achy, meaning I can whisk for longer periods without having to take breaks.
The mixer comes with easy detachable stainless steel whisks that can be simply attached to the end of the mixer or detached by pressing the release button that is located just above the whisk area. I love the fact the beaters are easy to detach and dishwasher proof, meaning all I have to do is pop them in the dishwasher after use, which saves me time trying to wash and rinse out the sticky mixture.
The mixer is not hugely powerful having a power of 150 watts and a range of five speeds; however I found that for whisking small mixtures it is perfect. One disadvantage is that even though it is only 150 watts, the noise from the motor is quite loud and can trigger a headache if use for long periods. On a positive; it's very easy to adjust the speeds, basically just need to turn the switch up or down; I found that the location of the switches made changing speed very quick and simple while mixing.
Overall this works perfectly for small mixtures such as cake mixtures, creams, whisking eggs and mousses and in my opinion works just as good as the more expensive brands out there. Therefore I would definitely recommend this for mixing light mixers. Read the complete review |
