Kenwood HM220
by valve90210
Being keen cooks and bakers, my girlfriend and I asked for a mixer for christmas as we were sick of hand mixing cakes etc.
We were given this nice little Kenwood mixer and having used it a lot, I have to say we are very happy with it. It is a well built mixer and feels good quality in your hands. The two beaters clip in with a ... positive click so you know they won't fall out.
There are three speed settings which is very useful when you are adding dry ingredients such as flour as you can start nice and slowly so it doesn't puff out everywhere.
The beater release button works nicely and makes removing the beaters a simple and clean job as you don't need to use your hands to pull them out.
There are a couple of very nice touches. to keep the beaters together with the mixer there is a little plastic holder which pushes into the beater holes in the mixer into which the beaters can be clipped horizontal to the handle.
Also, lead can be wound round the base of the handle and it's just the right length for the plug to end up by the gap in the handle so the pins can fit into the gap, and there is a small plastic clip on the cable to keep it there.
Overall, it's a great little mixer and one I would recommend to anyone, and it's very good value too, being less than £15. Read the complete review |

Kenwood kMix KMX54
by raija88
This might sound a bit silly but since my husband purchased me this machine im wondering how i managed without one
as a hand mixer user i was justifying the price of this product - even though it was a gift from my husband.
Lets start with the packaging - its very modern sleek black (don't know if different colours of ... this mixers have different colour boxes ) with KMIX writing on it - product is nicely packed - with easy and clear instruction manual , handy recipe book and leaflet with information about additional attachments -packed in a black folder. in the box you have a mixer ,splash guard stainless steel bowl (5L Non-stick Coated Aluminium ) ,A key -to adjust height of the attachments , spatula, splash guard and 3 attachments : K Beater, balloon whisk and dough hook .
At first glance the KMIX standalone mixer (or kitchen machine ) aluminium body with black top part of the mixer looks very sleek modern and sexy :)
As i have a small kitchen i do like to have nice looking appliances out on display (if there is no way to hide them) - i have received a lot of positive comments how good it looks ,.
It looks as good as it works, The aluminium body and 500 W motor with 6 Max Speed settings with fold function works like a dream , and its well made. i have used this machine on average 3 times a week for just over a year to prepare dough for bread and cake mixs etc etc.the bowl is large enough to mix for large quantities of cakes .I like the fact tha is very safe to use mixer will stop when the top of the mixer is removed (lifted) and it will slowing down when new ingredients are added gradually into the bowl.
I have always struggled to make a perfect dough for the bread - but thanks to this machine i can see a real improvement with quality and taste of my home made bread , same with cakes .some of other people have complained that the cake mixture is being left at the bottom - i had no problems as i have adjusted my tools correctly. The splash guard is a very handy gadget that attaches easily ( this is the only acrylic part of the mixer accesories found in the box ) it has a small opening to put your ingredients in (very handy when it comes to icing sugar) . it washes well . i was a bit scared that my shiny bowl might scratch easily - but it still looks brand new - . retailer claims that the bowl ,tools and splashguard are dishwasher safe but i cannot comment on it as i don't own a dishwasher .
The kitchen machine itself its quite large (Size: 22.3cm Long, 36.1cm Wide and 34.9cm High )and heavy (8. kg) - but that is a good thing as it wont " wander around " my kitchen worktops. as the mixer sits on my worktop rather than in a cupboard.I find myself using it more than i was using my hand mixer ( as sometimes i couldn't be bothered to take it out).
There are a range of additional attachments you can purchase for your kmix , Such as ; pasta maker ,, multi food grinder , flat pasta roller ,tagliatelle pasta cutter , trenette pasta cutter , taglioni pasta cutter and spaghetti pasta cutter . - i haven't purchased any of them yet.
what i have noticed is that the kmix attachments are a bit more expensive than the kenwood chef attachments and there isn't as many as the chef on the market at the moment.
So if you'r looking for a kitchen machine that not only looks good but also is a "work horse" - buy it !! , and you wont be disappointed. Read the complete review |

Kenwood HM220
by 1983home
I had started making my own cupcakes and I have been testing a range of different recipes that are all slightly different when it comes to ingredients. There is however one common dominator and that is that all recipes require to be whisked be it by hand for five to ten minutes or with an electric whisk.
I decided to make me ... life easier and to save a lot of time and energy I would invest in an electric whisk as it would allow me to spend more time decorating the cakes as opposed to making the cake mix itself.
I looked around and came across the Kenwood HM220 3-Speed Hand Mixer, which was also on special so I thought it was worth a try for just under £20 instead of the £24.99. I have looked around online and they are now retailing from £18.00 upwards.
This Kenwood hand mixer has a 150w motor and it has a 3 speed option so you can adjust the whisk speed to suit the ingredients that you are preparing, they are suitable for folding, mixing and whisking. The handle of the whisk is moulded so that it can suit the shape of your hand when holding the machine for that extra comfort.
In the box you get the hand mixer, two stainless steel beaters and the instruction manual. The manual just tells you how to use the machine and the do's and don'ts there are no recipes, but then again I was not expecting any as this is just a whisk.
Not only can you use the Kenwood hand mixer to make cakes it also helps to whip cream, beat eggs and mix batter.
To turn the whisk on is simple as it is thumb operated so you can adjust the speed setting with ease when using the whisk. When the whisk is ready to put away there is a cable grip that allows you to wrap the cable around the back body and store away with ease ready for its next use.
The whisk is 13.5cm by 19cm by 8 cm and it weight 750 grams, the machine is white and has a plastic body with The beater of the whisk are manufactured in stainless steel, so that they are kept in a great condition and have great strength and durability.
This Kenwood hand mixer also has the beater interlock system for added safety when using the machine. The whisk beaters can be put into the dishwasher for cleaning and the white plastic body just needs to be wiped over with a damp cloth. When packed away it is compact enough to fit nicely into your kitchen drawer, unlike bigger food processors that can be rather bulky.
When using the whisk you need to be careful not to push the eject button instead of the on/off/speed button otherwise mid-mix the beaters could come out and as they are covered in ingredients it can be quite messy trying to put the back into the locking system.
This is a great helpful gadget when it comes to whisking the cream for eton mess as it used to take me a good five to seven minutes to hand whisk the cream, but the Kenwood hand mixer makes the job easy to do and in a matter of a minute or two on a low setting.
Overall this was an excellent purchase I am glad that I did not buy a higher value whisk as this does the job perfectly. The beaters are easy to insert as long as you make sure they click into position and at the touch of a button they are released with ease ready to clean. The cable is also a great length as I have found with other mixers I have used in the past the cables are quite short, so you have to work next to a plug socket, but the Kenwood allows you to have a larger working space.
