Advantages: Bargain price, 5 speed settings

Disadvantages: Only availble from Argos, only comes in white, chrome plated beaters

I'm the first to admit when it comes to electrical items some might say I'm a bit of a snob. I'll only buy brand name things, under the impression rightly or wrongly it's better to pay a bit extra once than have to replace a cheap item a couple of times.

So when my Nan bought me this hand mixer for my birthday I wasn't sure what to expect. She knows I enjoy baking and she enjoys the end results, maybe she was hoping this would mean I baked more for her.

This little hand mixer comes in white, and although it looks slightly different to the one pictured it's a fairly inoffensive looking piece of equipment. It won't win any prizes for it's looks but you won't feel embarrassed if you leave it on your work top.

The mixer has a slot on each side so that you can store the beaters with it, meaning they won't get lost amongst your other utensils in the drawer.

It comes with 5 speed settings and 150 watts of power. I have never needed to use anything more powerful than the second speed setting when using it for baking.

The beaters are released from the mixer by pressing down the button which has the numbers for the speed settings on. Although most of the time I forget to do this and just pull them out. I don't struggle to do this, but as yet have never had them fly out while I've been using it.

It feels quite solid to use and although it is weighty it isn't too heavy so it isn't uncomfortable or awkward to use. The handle isn't particularly big so people with larger hands may struggle to hold it comfortably.
Being quite small and compact it easily fits into a cupboard or drawer for storage.

When in use it is quite noisy but you can still hold a conversation, and I don't really use it for long periods of time so I can put up with it.

The power cable is fairly lengthy, I would guess around 1.5m, so you aren't too limited as to wear you can use it in relation to a plug socket.

I mainly use this when I'm making cakes, but it also comes in handy for mixing Angel Delight, or instant gravy and custard for perfect lump free results.

Currently on sale from Argos for £4.18, which is a bargain even if it only lasts for a year.

If you need a hand mixer and don't want to spend a lot of money on one, I would definitely recommend buying this one.

Thanks for reading.

Summary: Worth £4.18

Oh no that doesn't sound good, I'll keep my eye on that.
