Advantages: great mixer
Disadvantages: bit too powerful at times
I just had to buy a new mixer as the one we were bought for our wedding finally went caput! after 12yrs marriage - not bad!! hope this one lasts as long!
I chose this one because of value for money, it's around £15, I bought ours from Asda. I liked it because it looked compact.
Really there's not much about food mixer's but being as I do a lot of home baking it's quite important it's easy to use and keep! It stands up on end so it is very easy to store and the beaters clip in using a plastic insert when not in use. The trouble is that you have to take the little plastic bit out everytime you use it and knowing me I will loose it!! so actually I've abandoned that and keep the beaters in the kitchen drawer as I used to!
It is an extremely powerful beater! brilliant when doing cakes and things which are quite thick but I have found it's a little too powerful for more watery mixes like whip's, soups etc it sprays everywhere even on the lowest setting which is a bit frautstrating - I get round that by having to hold my hand over the bowl to stop it! It doesn't spray badly but enough to have to wipe up after! But I tell you what it makes fab cakes because it really whisks it well and cream whisks in seconds!
The wire is plenty long enough and does wrap around the base so it's easy to store, in fact I'm going to get hubby to fix up one of those shed double hooks onto the wall and hook the handle over so it's within easy reach and I can just grap it when I need it - my last one had a holder which was fixed to the wall but it did cost a little more!
The beaters are easy to fit in, and just as easy to pop out just push the button and out they pop, I put mine in the dishwasher no probelms.
Great little buy!
Feb 2013 - finally packed up! I guess it's been used a lot, but I had no warning one day I was using it the next it just started making weird noises and finally stopped working. When hubby opened it for surgery! the cogs had sheared and therefore it's unusable so lasted 4yrs.
Summary: great value for money
