Advantages: Quick and easy to use, very versatile.
Disadvantages: The beaters have some hard to clean nooks and crannies
I was given this as a gift by my parents when I moved into my new house. It is amazing and makes me bake far more often. Cakes, souffles, meringues, whipped cream and dough are so much easier to make now I have a good mixer. I use the balloon whisk most often for whisking things like sponge cake and egg whites, the K beater for mixing cake mix and the dough hook for making dough. The flexi-beater doesn't get much use as the others do just fine.
I prefer to use my food processor over the attachment that comes with this but it does work well enough even if it is a bit hard to get on and off. I have been using the liquidizer as it does a better job than the one on my food processor. It's perfect for soups, pancake mixture and smoothies and I even found it worked to make hummus which has quite a low liquid content so it's a powerful liquidizer.
The motor is much more quiet than the one my mother had that would always wake the entire house up on her baking mornings but it works just as well as hers and will hopefully last as long. What mine has that her doesn't is the splashguard. It really does prevent your kitchen getting covered in flour and batter. Most of the time, I haven't spilled anything and cleanup is limited to the splashguard, the beater and the bowl.
You can also buy attachments for it. Many of these like the mincer used to come with the mixer but now they need to be bought separately which I suppose reduces the number of unused attachments you have cluttering up cupboards. I did buy the multi-food grinder which I use for sausages and kibbeh. I would definitely buy this if it wasn't a gift and plan to get one for my brother as a wedding present, it really is a huge timesaver.
Summary: Amazing appliance, never whisk til your arm hurts again.
