I encouraged my partner to purchase this mixer for me at Christmas, I went for Kenwood as my previous mixer was Kenwood and was handed down to me from my mother it lasted virtually 28 years of nearly daily use before finally giving up. I initially wanted a 1500watt motor as I bake Christmas cakes and thought an 800 watt motor might struggle, however this is a great, powerful, sturdy machine, the bowl is a perfect size and the safe guard gives me piece of mind when children are around. I use it to make everything from meringues to Christmas cakes, its so handy and easy to clean I even use it to whip cream on a Sunday. It is neat and fits nicely on my kitchen counter and I don't feel like I need to hide it away in the cupboard. All in all I have nothing negative to report, this machine is well worth the money, I only hope it lasts as long as its predecessor!
I love baking. I do not do it as often as i would like but when I do I like to use this mixer to make the process easier and more enjoyable.
Initially, I chose this mixer for two reasons. Firstly, my past experience with Kenwood mixers and my brand loyalty which arose from this as I trusted these products. Secondly, because it looked good - I know that this sin't really the best reason to base a purchasing decision on but it really did match the kitchen well with its modern style and chrome / brushed stainless steel finish.
The mixer is fully metal. This has two main advantages. Firstly, it makes it very durable - you are far less likely to break the casing if it is metal than if it were plastic. Also, it makes the mixer heavier. Although a heavier device is usually a bad thing, for these mixers being heavier means that it is less likely to move when mixing and it is also far less likely to be knocked across a work surface or even off the work surface.
The mixing process is very smooth with this mixer and the texture of the output is generally very good. it mixes very quickly which means that you wait as least time as possible when whisking meringue or kneading bread with one of the many attachments which come with the mixer.
One of my favourite features of the mixer is the safety guard. Although there is no particular reason why this is needed as I have never caught my fingers in the mixer and do not have any children around who may do so either, I see it as quite a rare feature on mixers and I really like it fro that.
I also love how well the bowl fits the mixer. The bowl itself is very large and means you can mix a lot of mixture at the same time. The fact that the bowl goes almost to the top of the mixer means that it is less likely to even spill out. It is also not too high as to restrict your view of the contents or to prevent you adding more ingredients. Overall, this aspect was very thought out.
