Advantages: Robust, various attachments and speeds, simple operation and attachment/detachment.

Disadvantages: Short cord length.

It would probably be best to say that I don't have a great deal of appliances in my kitchen, as I am just starting to build a collection of the necessities. One product I find particularly useful at this time of year is the Tesco Handmixer. I paid the not substantial price of £9.97 for it and I suppose you could say at that price you can't really go wrong. I don't like to spend a lot of money unless I know it is going to be worthwhile, but I am more than happy with this purchase.

I bought this handmixer from a Tesco store and as they had poor availability on other similar products I were kind of left with this product by default. Looks are not everything, and that is a good job really! This handmixer isn't the nicest looking kitchen appliance I have seen. Made from white plastic it does look quite cheap, but it is sturdy and robustly constructed, so build quality isn't an issue. I feel that a better looking and more aesthetically pleasing handmixer would have cost more, but would it have functioned much better?

There are four attachments that come with the Tesco handmixer and they simply slot into place. To remove them I simply have to press the eject button and they slide out. There are two traditional stainless steel paddles which get most use, then two dough paddles which I have yet to use. I have to point out the particularly well made and robust construction of the stainless steel paddles, as they are decent quality and won't be breaking in a hurry I don't imagine!

The handmixer has five speed settings and also a 'turbo' speed setting for very rapid mixing. Each speed is quite reasonable and none are particularly slow. The handmixer is easy to hold and comfortable to grip in my hand. This also helps with controlling the handmixer as I mix and whisk things. The cord isn't as long as I had hoped for, and I find that I have to use the same worktop as that is near the plug socket. Another couple of feet would really have come in handy. The handmixer does have a good weight to it. It doesn't feel cumbersome and inbalanced, but it feels as though there is something to the machine, if you get what I mean.

Overall I am pleasantly surprised with the quality and use I have had from this Tesco Handmixer. It isn't an overly complicated piece of equipment, making it ideal for the not so keen cook. It does offer a little more than basic function, though, with variable attachments and speeds. Cleaning is simple due to the ability to easily detach the various attachments for cleaning. I think that overall 'at that price you can't really go wrong.'

Summary: At that price you can't really go wrong!
