When you first buy an iPad you realise what a beautifully designed device it is. It is light, thin, has an amazing display, is a pleasure to hold in the hand and then you turn it over and see the glossy black apple logo in the centre of a sea of brushed aluminium. For a second you marvel at the pure quality of design and the high quality raw materials that have been used to make the device. Then it dawns on you that the beautiful, clean and unscratched back cover will not stay like that for very long unless you find a case of cover to protect it.

After some online research I came across the Incipio feather light case. After reading lots of positive reviews I went out and bought the case and wasn't disappointed. The case provides a tactile, almost suede like, feeling to the back of the device that allows you to keep a good grip on the iPad but also retains the thinness, access to the buttons and ports and general ease of use of the device while providing the all important protection for the rear of the device. The case is easy to fit, provides a snug fit around the device but is also easily removed when you want to. This has become my first choice case and has not been taken off my iPad since it was purchased and has kept my iPad looking as good as new.

The downside to this case is that the front of the device is not covered at all which, although the screen is made from toughened gorilla glass, can still provide a worry if you are transporting a bag with other items that could damage it. (To solve this issue I simply use a 10 inch laptop bag that is just roomy enough to slip the iPad into and I've found doing this provides all the protection needed.) The only other downside to the case is that although the corners and sides of the device are protected the top and bottom are not.

There is definitely cheaper cases available but few will provide the quality of finish, level of protection and longevity that the feather case gives you.

All in all, money well spent!
