Having just received my new shiny Samsung Galaxy Ace Pus mobile I decided that it might be an idea to buy a case for it to keep it looking new and shiny. There are a variety of cases for mobiles, but I wanted a case which would protect the phone and still allow me to use it, which is why I went for the S gel case (or wave silicon case/cover as it is also known).
The case protects the back and sides of the phone and you can get them in various colours including blue, red, white, green, purple, pink and black. I went for the black case to match my phone.
The case is pretty thin so at a glance it's not really obvious you have a case on it and it means it's not really bulky, allowing you to use the phone comfortably and as you would without the case on. It still does an excellent job at protecting the phone though due to what it is made of. The back seems to have a one or two very fine scratches after using it for a few weeks but you can only really see these if you look really closely and hold it under the light. Considering I have long sharp nails and have had the phone with my keys I imagine I have caught the back many times so I'd say the case is good quality and should last a while.
The whole case is smooth with a shiny edge and a shiny black S, or wave, on the back. The rest of the back is a dull black.
Both sides of the case are slightly rougher to make the phone easier to grip, which I find really useful and I'm sure that without it my phone would have slipped from my grip a couple of times while using it.
As I said at the start, when looking for a case I wanted one that would protect it but still allow me to use the phone and this case allows you to use every feature. There are holes in the case so that things such as the camera, power button and charger slot can still be accessed easily.
The only slightly bad thing with these cases is the fact the screen isn't covered, which is fine when you are using it but not so good when placed in your pocket or bag. This means you really need to buy screen protectors/guards and possibly a different style case that you can keep it in when you're not using it. A lot of cases made for the phone are the exact size though and so with the gel case on they won't be big enough so it's a good idea to bear this in mind when looking up cases.
So, now you know it will protect the phone and allow you to use it the big question is how easy is it to put the case on? Well, the first time it was a bit of a struggle as it is a tight fit and the case does come ever so slightly over the front. You also don't want to be scratching the phone trying to get it on. The best way I found was to slide the phone into one corner of the case and then push it into one corner at a time. It does bend (although it probably isn't a good idea to keep bending it a lot) and you don't feel like you'll ruin the case which does make it easier to get on. Once you've done it once it's then much easier to get it on again if you take it off.
Overall these cases are really good and it's worth buying one to protect your phone, even if you have it in a case when you're not using it. You can find these cases for about £1.99 on Amazon and ebay and I have seen them for as litle as 99p on ebay. Most come with a screen protector and cleaning cloth and, possibly for a little bit more, you can find some that come with a stylus or sock case which works out cheaper than buying each separate. Highly recommended.
