Advantages: Great with a contract, easy to use, quality camera and speaker

Disadvantages: Battery and locking function

The LG Viewty for the most part is an excellent phone. It's attractive (mine being the purple one) and easy to use, once you get used to the lock button on the side of the phone. I currently have this handset as part of an upgrade with my Orange contract and I have to say, it is overall an excellent phone. The camera is great and there is an easy sliding function on the side of the handset which lets you easily scroll from camera to camcorder to photo viewer. I find texting fairly easy with or without the dongle pointer and is fairly sensitive too, which makes it more than likely to hit the correct key. One other prominent feature is the volume - there is a clear, crisp tone when calling out and receiving calls and the loudspeaker is also great.

Now for my negatives. My current issue is the battery, and having looked up other reviews I've noticed that this is a re-occurent issue with other users as well. Mine used to last for days, and now it lasts mere hours. I purchased a new battery and am having the exact same problem. I'm hoping this isn't a generic issue for LG Viewty's down the line, but it is frustrating that once I take a phone call, my phone is useless until I can charge it again. My other issue is the locking device. There is a button on the side of the phone which activates and de-activates the phone lock. It's useful because obviously,a touch screen phone is sensitive to being touched. But when calling voicemail, it can be frustrating de-activating the lock, finding the button to activate the on-screen numbers and pressing 1 to listen to your messages, then on deleting/saving the message, you have to unlock it, re-activate the number pad to press the number you need!

I highly recommend this phone, and I will be taking in the handset to be reviewed as obviously it's not acting as a phone should with its battery problem but be sure to keep an eye on it as this isn't a one off incident. It's excellent value in conjunction with a contract as well!

Summary: An excellent handset but battery problems now occuring
