Advantages: Small and lightweight, Stylish, Great Design
Disadvantages: Camera not great
Firstly, I am on a contract, so I didnt pay for this phone as it was upgraded automatically. Secondly, I used to have a Motorola A1000 and I was sceptical when they upgraded me to the U880 as I didnt think anything could rival my old phone.
Now I have had the phone nearly a year and I am very happy with it.
The U880 has a great range of functions which I will detail below:
The U880 has a "profiles" setting which I find very useful. It easily enables you to switch between a number of predefined settings which you can set up for different environments, with different ring tones and message tones etc. These are:
Normal;
Silent;
Vibrate Only;
Outdoor;
Headset;
Customised 1;
Customised 2.
The great thing is that I set the "Normal" setting to one that I can use in the office which has a low volume tone and message tone. And I use the outdoor one for when I am not in the office, this is set louder so that it can be heard whilst outside with all the traffic. However, most of the time I used the vibrate only mode.
The U880 has an internet browser similar to that which you might find on a windows computer. It has forward and back buttons as well as reresh and home functions. I use the internet quite a lot from my mobile phone and find that it is fairly fast (although this depends on the network).
As with most mobile phones the U880 has facilities for text, pictures, video and music which I will explain below:
MESSAGING
---------------
I rather like the messaging interface on the U880. It is very easy to use and you can change between the text input type T9 (predictive text), ABC (upper case input), abc (lower case input), Abc (real case input) and 123 (numerical input).
Texting is quick and easy and you can request delivery reports for all your texts.
You can also send picture and video messages in the same way as well as emails.
CAMERA / VIDEO CAMERA
--------------------------------
The camera on the U880 is rather a disappointment. Although it offers a lot of functions with regards to zoom, night mode etc. THe overall quality of the camera is not very good. Even when a picture is taken in the highest resolution I find that it can be very very grainy when compared to other mobile phone cameras.
SOUND / MUSIC
--------------------
The great thing about the U880 is that it can be used as an MP3 player as well because you can play music without having the phone flipped open. The sound quality is very good and the volume is pretty impressive too. I am a big fan of ringtunes and the U880 has a big enough memory to store loads and loads of them, so all good there!
GAMES
---------
The U880 doesnt come with any games as standard, however these can be downloaded and will appear under "applications" in the menu.
ORGANISER
----------------
The U880 has an impressive organiser that I use a lot. It enables you to put appointments in your calender and then set alarms to remind you when they are coming up. With my job, I find this an extremely useful alternative to a diary.
ALARM CLOCK
---------------------
Need I say more! It gets me up in the morning!!!
