Premium Review Nokia E71 with Contract: E71-if only all E numbers were this good! (1084 words)

Rating:

Nokia seem to have been around forever. And they have. The were at the forefront of emerging technology and continue to be market leaders today. I put this down to two things. Firstly, most people associate Nokia with mobile phones, it's just a given. Secondly their user interface has always been simple and logical in the way it has been implemented. After a long run of Nokia handsets, followed by a foray into the wilderness, I am now back with the Finnish giants of tech. So to the E71. A phone that by rights should be in a grey area, in that it's right on the point of convergence between business orientated smartphones and the traditonal social phone. So ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review E, how did I ever live without this?! (2068 words)

I remember getting my first phone: going into the shop and choosing a little item I liked based purely on design. Okay so I say little, but we're talking around 2001/2002. Phones back then were like bricks! The one I went for then was a deep blue colour with a glittery surface, and a tiny black areal sticking out the top. I remember it was on Orange network too, but to me it could have been on anything - it was still my first mobile phone, and very special to me. Since then I have been through many phones, from the Nokia 3310 (those were the days!), to the phone I got just two months back - the BlackBerry Pearl 8110. They have all been on Pay as you Go, as I have never ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Nokia E71 with Contract: Nokia E71 Does it all. (464 words)

Well, what can I say about the E71?, I've had mobile phones for 12 years, and in all that time I've never owned a Nokia. Well, all that changed when I paid a visit to my local 3mobile shop. Among their range of phones was the 'E71', a phone with a proper qwerty keyboard, mobile broadband, WiFi, Bluetooth and infrared connectivity. All for £20 a month for the next 18 months. What impressed me was the build quality, this is definately a phone that won't snap in half any time soon. The screen is also bright enough to be usable in daylight as well (unlike my S/E W910). One of the things that attracted me to this phone/package was the 'unlimited mobile broadband' ...  Read the complete review

I love my iPhone, so with trepidation I decided to give a Nokia E71 a whirl. There are a few surprises, but also many disappointments. The good Well, the E71 has a nice form factor. It is very very slim, great styling, and very pocketable. The build quality is awesome, the best feeling Nokia I have ever used. The screen is very crisp and clear, it is bright enough, but could be a little brighter in my opinion. The keyboard is also pretty darn awesome. Having used the iPhone for over a year, I was surprised how much I missed having a proper tactile keyboard. The GPS built into this handset is brilliant too. It locked onto a signal really ...  Read the complete review
