Advantages: Customisable, useful features, downloadable applications and themes.

Disadvantages: Sony Ericsson phones have a tendancy to freeze

I've been with Vodafone on Pay as You Go since Christmas 2003, and seeing as I was topping up £25-£30 a month in credit, I saw it necessary to get a phone on contract. It would be beneficial to me in 2 ways, one being I'd pay less and two, I'd get a better phone free of charge.

With 3 friends of mine having had this phone, I opted for the Sony Ericsson C902 on a 24-month contract with Vodafone for £25 a month. It was essential that my tariff would include unlimited internet, as that is what I'd spend a lot of credit on. Inclusive with that £25 a month, I get 300 minutes and 3000 texts which is very useful. In with this contract I have the option to upgrade my phone after 18 months, and if the phone is damaged beacuse of technical problems, I get it fixed free of charge, though insurance for if I broke it myself would cost an extra £7.99 a month, which I've opted not to include on my plan.

The phone itself is instantly better than my old one. My previous phone was a Sony Ericsson K800i, and lasted me just short of 18 months, and it was moisture damage that had me replace it.

I've had this phone for over a week now and it has performed the way I'd want a phone to. Apart from phone calls and texts, from a phone I want a decent camera, internet usage and a music player. Like many phones nowadays, the C902 has all these features but I am keen on the various settings it has. The camera is 5MegaPixel and contains many different settings and are easily set and taken off by touch screen buttons around the screen when the phone is tilted to use as a camera. The quality is excellent. Browsing the internet is much easier than my last phone as the screen is bigger and it's easier to navigate around the screen as it actually has a cursor enabling you to click anywhere without wasting time going through each link. The music player is also satisfactory with decent sound coming from the phone itself and it works well with various earphones.

As an actual phone, it is easy to use. Texting is very easy beacuse the buttons are placed evenly apart and so far I havent pressed the wrong button by mistake like I used to on my old phone. Answering and making calls are very simple. Various features such as customised ringtones for different contacts make it easy to differenciate between who's calling you.

The menu display is easy to follow. With the phone comes a guide book on how to use the phone and each menu is broken down so it's easy to follow and know what you're doing with your phone. It's also easy to personalise as you can download themes and applications for various different tasks from the internet. I've also noticed the calendar display is notably better on this phone than my old Sony Ericsson.

Overall I am very happy with my new phone. It's early days as of yet but my friends still have their C902 phones and have lasted them at least a year. Sony Ericssons do have a tendancy to freeze or become slow, I haven't noticed this yet with my phone but like I said, it's early days. I recommend this phone to anyone who wants to combine a decent camera, music player, phone and organiser in order to save money, space and have one thing on you at all times so you'll never be lost!
