Good walkman and a phone to. (Sony Ericsson W810i with Contract)
Member Name: elmopants
Advantages: Walkman name/quality, lots of features, PC lead and software is good. Disadvantages: Exposed screen and camera lens gets dirty and scratched. This is my second Sony Ericsson Walkman phone with my previous phone being the W800i, both handsets have been on the Orange network. I chose the 810 as I have a softspot for black things and I wanted a good MP3 phone and with the Walkman name you'd expect this phone to be that and so far it hasn't dissapointed. I have had this handset for about a year now and its survived a couple of drops and bangs with no ill effects. I kept the plastic on the screen as I managed to scratch the 800 quite badly and so far the 810 has survived so I recomend you do the same as there's nothing worse than a scratch on the screen of your phone/camera etc. Features of this phone are plenty with the usual blue tooth, infra red etc. The keypad feels solid although i find the home key on the right of the joystick a bit of a pain, catching it when I don't want to but other than that no complaints. Being able to link with Microsoft Outlook for contacts and calendar is very useful as well as allowing you to get your 2 megapixel images off the phone with the supplied lead. Another nice feature of the lead is that it allows you to charge the phone from a USB port although I find this only seems to manage about 80% of a full charge. The supplied headphones are ok and provide a descent sound quality as well as acting as an ariel for the radio and the handsfree although hearing your caller in bother ears is a bit odd particularly as the headphones cancel out most external noise which makes talking a bit odd so I usually take one earpiece out when i talk. Overall I think this phone is a still a good bet as you can pick them up quite cheap now with the 850 and 900 series now out. Summary: A good choice with many features and good build quality. |
