Advantages: Great looks, lightweight, compact, excellent value for money, good features, simple to use
Disadvantages: Not a top of the line phone for features but you know this with the price you are paying
For the last year or so I have been using a really great mobile phone called the Dell Streak which is a cross between a mobile phone and a tablet pc but having decided I wanted to trade in the big Dell for something which was compact, cheap and offered up some features that I would actually use and so I decided to go for this little Alcatel so was it worth it?
Pros:
This phone has a very good 2.8" touch screen which is designed to keep navigation as simple and quick as possible. When I first started using this phone I did think that the screen was not very good but if you simply calibrate your settings then it works very well and if you get yourself a little stylus pen then it makes using your phone even easier.
This is a very nice looking little mobile phone with simplicity at the core of its design. The large screen looks good within the design rather than detracting from the styling and with the clean white matched to a lovely bright metallic silver the design is very much a classic one.
The phone offers up great value for money...I got mine for £37 and this included a £10 top up for free (I know that this has since gone up to £50 where I purchased my handset from but even at this I feel it is a very good deal).
This is a mobile that offers up a respectable line up of features like a stopwatch, alarm clock, calender, calculator, FM radio, MP3 player, 2MP camera, social networking integrated with the likes of Twitter and Facebook pre-loaded, access your email on the move, access the internet, predictive text messaging and a touch screen phone all for just about £50 (based on new price I have seen and including a £10 top up).
The phone is very compact and portable with a weight of just 85g this is a perfect little phone for your bag, pocket or even just to keep in your hand.
Clear calling quality thanks to the phone keeping the same quality of reception of more expensive phones on the market and a good microphone and speaker all mean that you can talk to your friends, family or loved ones easily.
This phone also keeps its charge very well with me so far having been able to go 4 days without needing to charge it...in the days of people needing to cut back this is a great little saving to be had as a lot of mobile phones need charged up every single day which means you are using up your electricity (something which is becomming more and more expensive) less regularly with this phone.
Keep upto date with the news, entertainment and sport as you can simply put widgets for these on to your phones home screen and click to check on the most recent info throughout your day. Auto updating means that this is even easier and always as up to date as it can be which saves you time and makes this a very useable feature (one of the main ones I use).
Negatives:
When calling people this (as with many touch screen phones) can have some issues with your face touching the screen and causing noise on the line (something which is not nice for the person on the other end and I should know as I work on phones every day) but with a little bit of getting used to it you figure out how to hold the phone to cut down on how often this happens.
Not as powerful as some other phones out there in terms of things like its internet or camera but you know you are getting what you pay for and more with this great little piece of kit.
Having been used to a phone which offered me everything you could possibly have at your fingertips I was concerned that when I went to a cheaper phone I would be disappointed but thankfully that has not been the case with this amazing little phone. Great looks, size and weight make this phone something I am not ashamed for people to see and with the simplicity of the features I find myself using text, calling and the news screens all of the time....basic yes but offering up all we need to have in a phone if we are honest. This is a great value phone and perfect for all those out there who don't want the biggest and best phones out there but know quality.
Summary: A simple but great looking phone that has blown me away for how much I love it
