The iphone was apples first entry into the phone market, and it made a big impact with its fantastic interface and innovative features. The iphone 3G makes improvements that many think should have been incorporated the original phone.

The most obvious change is in the case design. The case is now fully plastic, available in white or black with a slightly different shape to the original phone. I think that this new shape fits in the hand better and is not as prone to scratching as the old metal case. The headphone jack is no longer recessed which means we can use any headphones we like which is definitely a brucey bonus.

On the inside, as is blatantly apparent from the name, the iphone now has 3G connectivity. In my experience this does increase the connection speed to the internet dramatically and pages take seconds to load. 3G coverage on O2 however is not that great and I can only get signal in more urban areas,

GPS is another added feature, enabling Google maps to direct you and track where you're going. This is an excellent feature and I am really looking forward to the TomTom app that is reportedly coming out soon.

Overall, the iphone 3G is most things I would want in a second generation of the phone that redefined the phone market. The only thing that I feel lets it down are the poor battery life and lower resolution camera (2 Megapixel is peanuts these days).
