Advantages: Everything is just fine...no complaints here at all
Disadvantages: Nil Zilch Nada None
Hello people, I am one of many that have spent £402 (cash) on a o2 iPhone...its been sooo worth it and the second I held the phone in my hand I knew it was the one.
The option I chose was the 16GB one so that I could download all the apps and music and i could use for many years to come.
I wasted my time getting something similar to satisfy my urge for another touch screen phone....I got a Samsung Omnia because I worked for T-Mobile. The phone was good if not brill for three months then I got the urge and did solid research for 24 hours, my partner thought I was crazy and indeed it was but knew i should have got it in the first place. I have a three month old Samsung Omnia to sell if anyone is interested btw for £220.
I was not following the trend and buying the latest gadget that comes out I did my research and figured out why i wanted one.
The iPhone is fantastic, apple has 15,000 applications that you can download (paid and free), and use to your advantage, the categories are
games, utilities, entertainment, social networking, music, productivity, lifestyle, reference, travel, sports, navigation, health and fitness, news, finance, business, weather, books and medical. I could go on and on about how useful many of the applications are, obviously you cant use everything but i have many applications downloaded onto my phone.
I have downloaded iTunes 8 onto my acer laptop (windows vista) so that i could sync my iPhone with it. I currently have two contracts and did not want to walk around with two phones so i Jailbroke my phone and can now use my T-Mobile sim card in it instead of the o2 sim. This cost me £20 and was well worth it.
Its very easy to use, the touch screen is very responsive, which is brilliant for surfing the net, you can pinch and zoom in and tap for zoom out again....i saw this and loved it. the screen does not respond to a stylus only human touch which is cool.
When using wifi your battery lasts for a day and a half but when you use 3G the battery last half a day it really sucks energy.
The phone is clear including loudspeaker, I was able to import my contacts from my sim to the phone, very easy.
There is a volume control at the side, the power button acts as a key lock aswell, there is a silent button that silences everything, there are two speakers at the bottom, the phone jack is located at the top, the sim card is located at the bottom.
You can also rearrange your applications so you have them where you want them, change the colour of your desktop, you can have your music as your ringtone but its not as easy as selecting music from a file you have stored-I have been told that you need to edit and format the file so that it is accepted by apple standard so that you can use it.
I must mention you can send picture messages you just need to download the application that takes seconds.
There are a few things I miss like, copy and paste, flash and java is not supported (this is one thing i checked) sites like gucci.com you cannot view via safari (equivalent to internet explorer), no zoom on the camera but then you can take clear photos, if u want professional shots buy a proper camera!! thats about it.
I would recommend the iPhone if you want a phone, ipod, gaming, internet access, notes, calender all in one place.
Summary: Well worth the cost, not even a issue for me. not rich either
