Advantages: Everything you could need: phone, music, camera, entertainment, internet.
Disadvantages: Battery needs charging almost daily.
Having used an iPhone for about six months now, my initial love of the gadget has not waned at all. Clearly it is an ingenious product that combines everything that you never knew that you knew but the full extent of how brilliant it is does not become apparent until you have held it in your hands and given it a go. It is a well known matter that the iPhone includes many applications that enable the experience of using it to be widened beyond what we are used to expecting from a phone.
The applications include recipe books, computer games, relaxation tools and many many more. The iPhone includes a calculator, a diary, a youtube viewer for those long train journeys and all of this is set within a stylish and fashionable shell, instantly recognisable as THE phone to have at the moment. Even the text message function stores the messages in the style of an on-screen conversation so you can instantly flick back and see what you said to a particular person a few messages earlier alongside their responses. Let's not also forget that all of this comes with an ipod touch included in it - itunes is included on the phone as well as the usual ipod features.
The 3G technology allows access to the internet when you are not near your own wifi connection in the home. This allows the fantastic map application to be used all over the country - it is almost a personal sat-nav system which can zoom into where you are at that particular moment and provide you detailed directions to your destination, either by foot, by public transport or by car. It really is indispensable!
The only issue is the battery. Because of all the things that the iPhone does, the battery can run down rather quickly, resulting in a nightly/ every other nightly charge being necessary. It is a small price to pay for such a fabulous product.
I cannot recommend this product enough. I would be entirely lost without mine and the more of your friends that have the product, the more of the specialist features you can use between you. You will become addicted to it ... I know I did.
Summary: Buy it now, you won't be disappointed.

- 05/06/09 Don't get me wrong, I wholly understand that the battery life is only reduced because I can't put the phone down! ;-) Although it is a negative point, it is massively balanced by all of the positives!
Tha nks for the welcome, rosebud2001. I'm looking forward to finding my way around! |

- 05/06/09 I switched the 3G off on mine and the battery life is *significantly* improved. I only switch on if i need it now.
Also, if you are using the screen a lot, for apps and/or games, that's a lot of pixels it's throwing about and they have to be lit from somewhere. ;-)
I love mine too. |
