Advantages: fast, versatile, wide range of applications, easily updated through iTunes

Disadvantages: expensive, digital compass needs movement, need 3rd party apps to get some competitor's features

The iPhone has been one of the most desirable gadgets on the market for a couple of years now, and they have just made it even better.

On the surface what they have added are a built in compass, voice recognition control and a better camera with crisp video recording capapbility but, deeper inside, the changes to the underlying hardware make the iPhone 3GS much faster than its already popular predecessors. I sat the new 3GS alongside an older 2G iPhone and raced them at loading the BBC News homepage over Wi-Fi, the new 3GS was nearly twice as fast. I was never unhappy with the older model's performance.

Purely as a phone, I have never found the iPhone to be the best available on the market, until recently it was even lacking features common to most other expensive phones, but as a communication and information management tool, as well as an entertainment device, it simply stands out as a very versatile digital assistant. It is easy to become familiar with the touch screen control system and then the iPhone 3GS becomes one of the easiest and most visually pleasing tools for many frequent tasks. Having a phone built into it extends this functionality and increases the probability that, wherever I am, I will have my modern-day digital penknife at the ready.

If you want to read your email and browse the web from your mobile phone, then the iPhone 3GS is probably the best phone you could buy.

Summary: A great personal digital assistant and music player, with a built-in phone.

The best way to see a iPhone working is to go to a Apple store' that way you can see how it works'.

You need itune's on your laptop to run this phone.

Welcome to Dooyoo

Good review but how easy is it really to use it for calls and texts? Does it have a large phonebook memory capacity? Good signal/speech clarity quality and is it heavy or light?

For buyers who dont have this phone a bit more info based on your usage could well be appreciated here. Certainly I'm in the old school of mobiles because I've yet to find a phone that has so much capability but can still stand up to the rigours of daily life as well as being relatively durable.

If you update your review please message me.
