Advantages: Can do virtually anything, good charge, amazing browser
Disadvantages: None to think of.
The phone that does it all.
The iPhone was heralded as a great breakthrough in telecommunications when it first came out. It was to be the breakthrough device of the decade. It was all this.
The phone came preloaded with a fairly standard range of phone apps. SMS, Phone features, calculators, clock...
But it also came with some that others didn't. Email, quick, easy to setup and easy to read with support to view goodness knows how many format types as attachments, office docs, sound files, video clips, pictures...
An iPod music player, not only did it play music, it had playlists, and it had video too! You can syncrhonize your songs, TV shows, movies and any similar items, the only downside on this was the silly recessed headphone jack that meant you had to buy a £10 adapter or to use Apple's own headphones. I went for the former. Fortunately this is something that has been corrected in newer models.
Perhaps the biggest breakthrough to my mind on all this though was the inclusion of Safari. Apple's own internet browser that allowed the mobile phone to process virtually any web page the same way you would on a full sized computer, the only real exception to that was Flash, and that's still the case unfortunately, but only a minor tarnish on the whole thing.
iTunes store lets you download virtually any song direct to your phone from a wi-fi connection, brilliant if you hear that odd song and want to get it before you forget.
Then 12 months after release Apple announced the App Store, and this made the whole thing explode. As of today there are over 20,000 apps on the store ranging from programmes to make your phone into a rudimentary flashlight, to apps to check drug interactions to....well anything really!
This phone has really broken the mould, the contacts that go with it currently in the UK are expensive, but when allowing for unlimited internet usage, which you WILL use they're not all bad.
Summary: Get it, get it now!
