Advantages: It's a phone, organiser, mp3 & video player, voice recorder, camera, alarm etc
Disadvantages: oversensitive touchpad and poor battery life
The Blackberry Storm
It's brilliant. It's a phone, an mp3 player, video player, voice recorder, camera, alarm clock notepad, and a virtual mini pc for all files and documents.
The phone is light and slim and solid and it has superb colour graphics
I primarily wanted a mobile phone to sync my work calendar and contacts and make appointments as I go and hence be paperless. So I decided on the Storm when I upgraded my phone
Some reviews were not positive but I must say I have found it great to use and wouldn't change it.
I have synced a couple of my email accounts and my tasks and calendar reminders so I don't miss out or forget anything. The notifiers are cool and I have different sounds for different email accounts and text messages.
The voice recorder it good too and you can add recordings as ringtones.
Google is great to sync calendars and tasks etc.
MSN live calendar wouldn't sync to outlook and blackberry even with outlook connector which it advertises it does. You can Google and find other frustrated users trying to achieve this without success.
I can go straight on online for news updates live messaging, downloads, ebay and much more. There is a zoom feature for this but I haven't mastered it properly yet.
The phone is so versatile you can adjust it to suit your every need
I bought a larger memory card and have loads of photo's and music files on the phone which is great but saps the battery quite quickly.
There are downsides.
I haven't tried the blackberry family of phones before and found the touch screen model which I have is oversensitive. Even if you touch the centre it still gets the letter next to it. Having read other users reports, if you've had a keypad version previously it's a drawback. I did buy a 3G phone stylus pen but it didn't work.
Battery life is poor and lasts only a day or two but you can charge via Usb hub on any computer quite quickly.
The glass front needs protection so I keep it in a leather pouch
It's so good as a mini organiser you forget it's a phone .
I've dropped it a few times when using the phone and also disconnected callers because I've pressed the buttons on the side of the phone when I first started to use it.
The camera is just 3 megapixels when my last phone was 5 but the quality is still great for the computer and small prints.
You do need spare time to work through the instructions to get the most out of it
I spent a lot of time seeking info to help me use the phone and eventually found great help on You tube as they have good visual instructions.
You definitely need an in car charger ebay has the best buys.
All round I would recommend it as I can work round the minor annoyances because of it's great benefits.
Anyway it must be good as my husband wants it from me!
.
Summary: It slimline futuristic fun to use and way ahead of other mobiles.
