Disadvantages: Reliability

I was recently faced with the most baffling of consumer decisions, replacing my mobile phone

The BlackBerry Storm caught my eye straight away; although the design is far from original the use of high quality materials in its construction makes it look classy and roughed. The brushed aluminium complements the black plastic fantastically; nevertheless the Apple iPhone still trumps the BlackBerry in the aesthetic department.

Unfortunately the BlackBerry Storm is only available from Vodafone (in the UK anyway), that said Vodafone's price plans are competitive, and still cheaper than O2's offers on the iPhone, the deal I chose costs about £40 a month for this I get; free texts, free data and 600 anytime minutes plus the handset was fee, you can't feel vexed at that.

Living with the BlackBerry Storm has been somewhat mixed, at first I was a little disappointed with the running speed of the Storm; the machine seemed to be somewhat over stretched. However with time this becomes less of a problem, similarly the Storm occasionally requires re-booting, I'm not alone either I have a friend who has similar experiences. Regardless the Storm is packed with brilliant features; of course the Email software is sublime, as too is the internet browser. That said, some may be disappointed by the lack of WLAN, the 3G is more than fast enough for me.

The touch screen is excellent, the touch screen come button takes some getting used too but once mastered is well worth it. Another point I've noticed cropping up in reviews is the battery life in the Storm, honestly it's not that bad! It will easily get you through the day.

The Storm is a high quality alternative to the Apple iPhone, indeed the BlackBerry is not without its faults but the quality of the overall product suppresses these faults to nothing more than minor inconveniences.

Summary: Excellent but flawed
