Advantages: Ease of accessibility to e-mail, stylish, calendar function, internet accessibility
Disadvantages: Battery life, a little rough when switching between applications
From a business point of view this device is first class. The only real problems I can identify are that the battery life is fairly restricted and moving from screen to screen can be a little slow compared to the smoother iPhone.
However, the good points! As I say, from a business point of view, this is a very good device. It allows you to keep tabs on up to ten e-mail accounts at any given time. This is the sort of function that is very handy for those business types who are always on the move. So, not only does it serve as a useful companion for keeping contact with people via telephone and text, it also allows you to e-mail them quickly and easily whilst on the move.
I have my own e-mail account and there are times when it is useful to keep track of it, however, I have recently started my own business and, with working full-time, it is invaluable for allowing me to keep track of my own business and any enquiries I may receive.
The memory is also fairly extensive so you can store a lot of e-mails, texts, phone numbers, pictures and so on.
Plus, the calendar function is first class. You can move easily between days, months, years by using the touch screen function and swiping your finger across the screen.
The camera is useful, coming in at 3.2 megapixels, and will do a good enough job if you just want to take the odd picture and don't quite see yourself as a budding David Bailey! I appreciate there are other, more sophisticated devices on the market for those who want to take glorious camera shots but this isn't really something that bothers me. If it bothers you then maybe you should consider an alternative device. But, as I say, the quality on the Blackberry Storm is still pretty decent.
The device also allows you to log in quickly and easily to applications such as Facebook, ICQ and MSN Messenger. If you are into social networking and want to access it, with ease, at any time, then the Blackberry Storm will work for you. It's also a great device for accessing the internet quickly and easily.
There is also a wide selection of games and skins available via the Blackberry store which can be easily accessed via the device.
The downside to all of this? The battery. I must confess that I have had my Blackberry for a few months now and I am used to the battery life. I do have to charge it at least every 1.5 days. Previously, when I owned a Nokia, I would only have to charge my phone every 3/4 days but all that changes with the Blackberry Storm! But, as I say, it is something that galls you at first, but you do get used to it.
If I am being honest, the advantages of this device far outweigh the disadvantages. The only problems are the battery life and the lack of a smooth transition between pages/switching of applications. However, this is more than compensated for with the look of the device, the handy touch screen, the ability to have up to ten e-mail accounts in your pocket and also the ability to access the internet quickly and easily.
Having been a little apprehensive in the first few days of ownership of this device I must say that I have grown to like it very much and, from a business point of view, I don't know what I would do without it.
Summary: Great device for business types or for sociable folks who are always on the go
