I have owned a Bosch 509e (on Orange Pay as You Go) for about three years now. It's definitely a bit large compared with the latest tiny toy-like phones, but I have big fingers and it has big buttons, so I'm not complaining. (Perhaps it's unkind to call it a brick: it's more like a half-brick.) The design is a bit old fashioned, and the features are few and far between, but the Bosch 509e does work really well as a basic phone. The reception quality is excellent; I've had very, very few call problems, although that is partly down to the Orange network's good coverage. Sound quality is fine, and best of all, it doesn't have ... Read the complete review

Despite recently upgrading my pay-as-you-go account with Orange, I still own and also have a soft-spot for my Bosch 509e phone. Featuring an attractive clear orange plastic finish (also available in coconut too), the phone is an absolute doddle to use. The menu system may be old, and the screen may be only a couple of lines deep, but this phone is absolutely ideal for the novice user. It's size IS a potential problem compared to some other sleeker (but much more expensive remember...) phones on the market, but even so I can still recommend this product highly. It has virtually none of the features of more modern phones (no voice dialling, incoming ... Read the complete review

This phone is fantastic for a novice user! It's just SO simple to use! It's menus are very basic, and it's handling could not get any better! It's quick and efficient! One problem, it's large, and bulky! As I said, it's more like a brick than a phone. It's also quite heavy. Unless you have bag to carry around with you - it's not the kinda thing you want stuck in yor pocket! It's a cheap phone, and basically, you get what you pay for! Sure, it lights up and comes in two colours (either orange, or coconut) but is that really what you want your phone to do? Battery power is awful! After having this ... Read the complete review

I brought a Bosh 509e in December 1999, on the Orange network. It was my first mobile, I use my mobile for about 5 mins a day. I think that this phone is very good for a first-time buyer who want's to make good-quality voice calls. Despite dropping the phone many times, I had no problems with it apart from the battery tended to move a bit. The buttons are easy to use, ringtones OK and the SMS is easy to use apart from it saying 'please try again later' when you run out of credit, I think that it would be better by saying something more liken out or credit. The rubber on the antenna came of a little, but the phone still functioned properly. I think that the ... Read the complete review
