Advantages: Neat ideas, Easy to Use

Disadvantages: Uncomfortable Keybad, Poor Battery

The T18 is a compact phone with all the features that the average cellphone user needs. It is comfortable to carry and talk into, it has excellent reception and sound quality, and the commonly needed functions are easy to use. Were it not for the mediocre battery and the uncomfortable and not-so-durable dialpad it would be a killer.

The T18's greatest advantage is probably its compact shape that makes it fit comfortably in almost any pocket. Don't let the small size fool you though, it weighs almost as much as larger devices. (oddly its predecessor, the 788 that had exactly the same shape and size, weighed less) The dialpad cover/door is very convenient for protection from accidental keypresses while not in use and saves you from caring to lock the keyboard.

The phone is designed to make your life easy with the simple and frequent uses.

Picking up and hanging up calls by simply opening or closing the cover, although perhaps seeming a detail, is a great feature.

Going through your new SMSs or voice mailbox is very easy - just answer yes/no to step-by-step questions (read message? reply? erase?.. etc)

Voice recognition dialling works amazingly well. Combining the 10 voice dials with the 9 speed dials gives you enough easy-access numbers to cover for most of your everyday dialling needs.

The "just press the 'yes' button to view the last incoming or outgoing call number and press it again to call it" principle makes everyday tasks such as retrying a busy number or responding to a missed call as easy as they can ever get.

On the downside, the keypad is not comfortable due to the small size of the buttons, and after considerable use (I have had it for about 10 months, and I use it quite a lot) they lose their feel and sometimes do not respond when depressed. I've heard from others that after even lengthier use certain buttons became almost dead - which renders the phone useless
.

Also the battery that comes with it is not the best - okay, it does last for a couple of days, but it suffers from memory effect and this might drop to half the lifetime within a year or so if you're not particularly punctuous to your re-charging schedule.

In conclusion, I would say that the +s of the S18 outweigh the -s. What are you waiting for? Go out and get it!
