Advantages: Future Proof - bluetooth, GPRS, Colour Screen, Amazing battery power, Loads of functions!
Disadvantages: none
Until very recently I was very much a Nokia mobile person - chooisng Nokia phones over any other manufacturer - regardless of the technology offered by competitors... That all changed with the launch of the Ericsson T68! As soon as I saw the phone in person I noticed it was totally different to old Ericssons. The whole structure had changed - internal ariel, small sleek curves to the phone + they got rid of the flip cover (personal dislike)! Obviously also noticing the joystick. On switching the phone on - the screen is bright with strong colouring (256 colour screen)working well to show the necessary info - battery life indicator, network signal etc... The menu system of the phone has become much easier to use as a result of the software + the joystick navigation system. Firstly the menu screen is very much icon based instead of words - very much a 'breath of fresh air' for Ericsson. Once you choose an option it provides standard numbered menu system. Based on initial use the new system is miles better than its predecessors in functioning. Ericsson has added a number of bonuses to the phone making it much more personal i.e. allowing you to choose your own background + theme for the screen, full voice activation for the phone book + menu system. The light dimming option + the clock showing once the phone light fades! These extra touches certainly make a good impression. The phone itself has a great battery life estimated 200+ hours standyby + 100's of minutes talktime. After initially charging the phone for 40 minutes I found it worked amazingly well for a good three days with mid level battery. The memory/ phone book system is very advanced allowing each entry to have a number telephone no.'s + an email address. Also the fact that it has a 500 number capacity is very good. The only slight issue is that the SIM memory is always kept seperate from the phone memory! Using the phone has been very st
raight forward with simple menu system, amazing colour screen, good number of ringing tones. The call quality itself is very good with clear microphone + a very loud earpiece - allowing me to hear conversations clearly in very loud places. There are a number of other impressive points for the phone - predictive text messaging, saving outgoing messages, voice memo system, automatic number saving option etc... On a final point - I recently noticed a great bonus - the ability to use calling cards (programmable)easily with the phone. There are a good number of features yet to be used - dependent on the network operator service - HSCD, advanced messaging service + GPRS. I await for these services to be fully implemented on the network - I am sure (based on use) this little phone will rise to the challenge! After owning the phone for a few days there still loads of features to use as yet - bluetooth, triband (making it almost a totally global phone!). Overall - with the launch of this phone, Ericsson has managed to rise to the challenge of Nokia as market leader. This phone really is going to challenge Nokia to make a more impressive, future-proof (i.e. GPRS, bluetooth, triband + colour screen all packed into this little phone) phone!! As titled - I am very impressed how one little phone can do soo much...

- 19/11/01 I used o stick to Noika's, having four of them, they started getting a bit boring! I am also now a very proud owner of this fine little phone, making all my friends envious of me! Can I just ask you what network you're on??? A good opinion! |
