Advantages: GPRS, Bluetooth, Screen

Disadvantages: Phonebook

I have used the T68 for over 2 months now. This is surely a very impressive phone. Needn't to say more about the amazing 256 colour screen. The menu system is very user friendly and unlike any other mobiles bdofre. It is abit like the windows if you know what I mean.

I was interested in the motorola V66 initially because of the look but after playing with it, the menu is old and difficult to use. Even the menu on my old Siemens S25 was better than that. Also, the V66 did not have infra red port which I need to connect my phone to the laptop to go online. My second choice was the Noika 8310. The phone seems pretty nice but there were a few problems which I was concerned about. The 8310 was delayed a no. of times due to the software problems. Although this phone do have the IR port but after playing with it, I think it's too much like the old 8210. The look and the menu hadn't change much. In fact, if you don't use the wap or GPRS function, the only good thing about it is the built in radio. At the time of purchase of my T68, the price of 8310 was £150 and the T68 was merely £30 more, in exchange for the colour screen, Ir port, Bluetooth etc...

The T68 is not perfect in every way. There are still room for improvements. The phone has every function you could think of. It can check your POP3 emails without connecting to a PC and supports both GPRS and HSCSD. The wap is the latest version and the games are really amazing, especially playing tetris in colour and using a joy-stick. In fact, there are so many functions on the phone that it'd take forever to mention all of them down. uumm...would could a powerful phone with colour display drains the battery really fast? The answer is not particularly short. Erisccon uses the latest technology on their batteries and even playing games and connecting to the internet doesn't prove to be a problem. If you don't play around with it much, it'd probably last
around a week. Otherwise for normal normal everyday use, I personally charge it every 3-4 days. Having said all the good things about it, there is one problem with the phone book. It is very difficult to add a phone no. straight away into the phonebook. On the other hand, I think this might be because Ericsson provides software for the phone to connect to PC and synchronize your info. including your phone book. So for those who has all their contact on their PCs already. It really shouldn't be a problem.

This is an excellent phone and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Apparently there is going to be a new version coming out in 2002 and the old T68 could upgrade the software on the phone to take full advantage of the new functions.
