Advantages: Looks, quality, ease of use
Disadvantages: Battery life, buttons may be too small for some people
I bought this phone after I saw my friends and fell in love with it. I got it free on a contract but you can buy it sim free for about £100. When I bought mine you could only get it in black or pink and they both look great. The black ones really glossy and sleek looking, and the pink one's very girly in what my friend describes as 'sicky pink', meaning it's a very Barbie-esque colour that only girly girls would like. Needless to say my friend has the black version, but I chose the pink one. They've since brought out a white one, a lilac one and a red one.
The front of the phone has the LG symbol at the top then the screen, then the touchpad at the bottom. It's a slide phone which when you open it the screen and the touchpad lights up and it looks really stylish. There are buttons on the sides to control volume and the camera and mp3 player. Then on the back you've got the camera.
The menu's are really easy to use and understand, and the keypad is easy to use and the buttons aren't at all stiff, but they could be too small for some people, I know my boyfriend finds them difficult to use so maybe only for petite fingers. The touchpad's also real easy to use but it can sometimes be a bit too sensitive and you can end up scrolling too far through a menu or calling someone by accident, but it's generally ok.
Making a call is simple and as with most phones these days you have different options for how to make the call, like scrolling through your phonebook, speed dial, or searching for a number by using the person's name or just the initial. The call quality is good and you can turn the call volume up or down during a call with the buttons on the side of the phone.
Texting is also really easy, and you can choose to use the normal typing or predictive text, but I've never really got the hang of these predictive text thingies. You can hold up to 100 messages in your inbox so you don't need to delete them too often if you don't want to, and there's a 'delete all' option for if you just want to get rid of the whole lot at once which is good as I was annoyed at my last phone for not having this option, I hated having to scroll right through my inbox deleting everything one by one.
You can get the internet on this phone but every time I've tried to use it I've spent ages waiting for a page to come up, after already spending ages waiting for the browser to load, only for it not to go to the page and finding it's cost me about 30p! If you ask me this is ridiculous, I'm being charged for the internet not doing anything, which I know it's my network that's charging me, not my phone, but if they're going to charge me it should be only for it actually doing something!
The camera is ok, not brilliant, but certainly good enough for taking spontaneous snaps of your mates on a night out, and there's space to store loads of photos. It also has a video camera option but I've never used it as the quality doesn't seem very good at all.
You get a pair of headphones with the phone, to use with the mp3 player, but I've never used this as when I tried to put music onto the phone it kept disappearing, and this is not just me being stupid, my boyfriend tried to do it for me and it disappeared when he did it too. If you can get it to work though, the headphones are good quality (I've used them with my mp3 player), and they have and in-line control to make changing the volume or track easier.
The ring tones that are loaded on the phone are all pretty rubbish but I don't like downloading tones so I make do with what's there. You can change the background and things like that, and you can set up profiles with different ring volumes and stuff so you could have one for when you're in a club and need it loud, and one for normal everyday, and one for when you're in a meeting or somewhere where you don't want your phone to be going off. There were 3 games loaded when I got my phone, one was a weird golf game that I'd never play, and I can't remember what the second one was, but the only one I have left now is sudoku, I'm not sure where the other 2 disappeared to.
The battery life is not great, it usually lasts me about 3 days but if I use it a lot I have to charge it every night. If you were playing games or using the mp3 player then it probably wouldn't even last you all day.
One major thing that I love about this phone is how surprisingly robust it is. It looks like it would be really delicate, but it can take a fair amount of punishment. I drop mine loads and it's never broken, all that happens is sometimes the battery comes off the back of the phone, but then you just have to put it back on, set the date and time, and that's it, it's back to normal.
I think that's about it, all that's left to say is that I love this phone, I've never had any problems with it and I've had it over a year now, and I'm so glad I bought it!
Summary: A great little phone which looks great and works almost as well
