Advantages: Bags of features, big touch screen, sound quality.

Disadvantages: PC connectivity confusing and not user friendly.

After much deliberation I decided to get an LG KP500.

What a lovely mobile. Admittedly it cost nothing on a £8.50 per month contract for 18 months with Virgin Mobile. I knew my way around it within the first day. It is packed with features but the most striking thing about it is the amount they have packed in. Ok it's not quite an iphone but at less than a sixth the price for half the quality I won't grumble.

A good feature is the camera and the video editing suite, though a little confusing at first, but with the manual in hand it was not a problem after follwing the instructions to the word. I put about 100 albums on a 8GB memory card with 4GB left for pics, vids etc. The first time I used the MP3 player the battery did not give up until about 6 hours had passed; which was on the second day after its first charge. The sound quality is exceptional (for the price) and it is rather loud. The earphones are very good and if they were designed a little better they could be more snug removing more BG noise. The limitless voice recorder is the best I have used. When messaging use the keypad or turn the phone sideways for a qwerty keygoard (best used with the telescopic stylus (neatly slotted in the bottom of the handset)).

Despite me bigging it up there are a few things fundamentally wrong with it. The capacitive touch screen is not perfectly responsive and takes at least a day to acclimatise to it. The LG PC Suite is quite confusing to set up and not that user friendly if you manage to do so. The quality of the video is terrible. The stills camera is better than average but not outstanding. Don't belive everything you read about apps for it, I have never managed to get a single one working but, I don't need any.

All in all a good value product.

( Now ... on with the longevity testing.)
