I have had my LG Cookie for 6 month now(i am on my second handset)It is my first touch screen and i it does not live up to my expectations!
In bright sun light it is very unresponsive always picking the wrong letter and the screen is hard to read.
Applications Full! is the message i often get when trying to do anything on this phone, everything els has to be closed to start writing a new tx, sometimes it gets so bad i just give up and switch it off/on to be able to start a tx!
My first handset just went blank,it was still on but no screen, this was exchanged without a problem by tesco
The handset it's self is just what i was looking for slim, light and looks good but it is a real budget touchsceen in my opinion.
You would be better off getting a good quality non touchscreen phone or investing a bit more money for a decent touchscreen.

Summary: Spend a bit more if you want a touchscreen phone
