LG KF600...Good looking, but pretty abysmal
Member Name: redrabbit
Advantages: Pleasing to the eye, affordable
Disadvantages: Unreliable and slow
The LG KF600, otherwise known as the Venus, is certainly an attractive phone. I opted to buy this one because of its versatility; it's a two way touch screen, the upper half being (320x240 pixels) and the lower half (240x176 pixels), an impressive size considering the current retail price at £79.97 from Tesco. Sliding up the phone reveals a keypad for those keen on texting; I had read that touch screens weren't always favourable for heavy texters, but this phone seemed to have the best of both worlds. A modern, stylish looking phone, yet easy and practical to use too.
The phone has many admirable features such as the 3 megapixel camera, the loud music player, Bluetooth, Infrared, FM radio, Java games, Voice recorder, Micro SD card slot, WAP enabled.
I would say the best feature about this phone, for me personally, is the cosmetics of it. Which doesn't really say an awful lot for the phone itself. Yes, it does have numerous features, but nothing superior to that of any other bog standard phone nowadays.
I have also found a great number of faults with the phone; I've noticed sporadically when making calls, the dialling tone wont kick in. Meaning I don't know when the person has answered the phone, until hearing a bewildered "hello?" down the other end.
Worse still, sometimes the ringing of the phone is audible, but when the person does answer, I can't hear them! These unreliable features are a little disheartening, as I've only had the phone for a few months.
I've also found the camera to be very slow when taking pictures, having to hold the phone still for around 3-4 seconds for the photo to appear on the screen un-blurred. The phone in general is slow...being relatively unresponsive at times and incredibly delayed.
The ever dreaded screen freeze also occurs one to two times every month or so...And the battery life of the phone is not too great either; I can fully charge it one day, then by the next day the battery can be down to 1 bar again, meaning im reluctant to use features such as the internet, games or mp3 whilst im out.
The standard memory on the phone isn't fantastic being able to handle only a handful of photos before there is no memory left, although it must be said that there is room for expansion with the SD slots.
All in all, I wouldn't recommend this phone to people who are after a quality phone. Too many problems have occurred and given the chance again I would invest in something a bit more reliable for an extra 50 quid or so.
Summary: Dont purchase if you want quality
