LG KM900 Arena
Advantages: Stylish, Lots of functions, Good internet browser
Disadvantages: software problems
About 3 months ago I had lost my C905 and was after another phone! I was interested in getting a touch screen phone, with a decent camera and a good web browser and music and radio capabilities.
The iphone was the obvious choice but I was after something with a better camera and wanted something that looked a bit nicer.
The Arena was the one I went for!! I have never owned an LG before, when I first started working in a mobile phone shop a few years ago they had a bad reputation with reliability and were big, clunky and ugly looking! Things seem to have turned around now.
The Look - Such a stylish looking phone! It's very slim, smaller than a lot of touch screen phones, the back is plastic but nice brushed metal on the front. Quite expensive looking.
The camera - 5 megapixel, with an inner camera functionality (for video calling but useful when wanting to take photos of yourself and friends together!) It does take a good quality picture in light conditions. However you have to be quite careful when shooting in duller conditions to make sure flash is permanently on and when light is behind you otherwise the pictures are not viewable. Video camera is of decent quality with good sound recording.
Use - Quite easy to use once you get used to the touch screen. You have customisable home screens that you can flick through showing fave contacts, music and pictures, widgets, and smaller menu where you can add the functions you use most often. You also then have a full menu that is laid out with icons and descriptions underneath.
You flick through your menus by flicking your finger across the screen and can zoom in on photos and internet pages by using your fingers in a pinching motion.
Music quality is good and comes with some good earphones, the kind that sit in your ear. They are good at blocking out noise and don't have to turn the music up to loud on the train on the way to work!
Reliability - Seems to be a downfall of a lot of phones these days. When I first got it I had 2 exchanges due to software problems, I then had it booked in for repair at Carphone Warehouse for a software update and this seems to have stopped the freezing. It does power off every now and then when I am writing text messages or using the internet. It's not too often but is quite annoying when it does, hopefully another software update will solve that.
All in all it's a good phone, my favourite to date! (and I've had a lot!) The little bugs with it do let it down but not to the extent that I'd want to change it for something else. I actually love it too much!!
Summary: Over all a good phone that I would buy all over again. LG need to sort the software though!
