Advantages: Nice screen, nice camera, clear call quality

OK, so my OH has an Orange sim card, one that I have on a very good OVP tariff from years ago. Such cheap minutes, direct debit, no contract, so worth holding onto. It also means that it never qualifies for handset upgrades and her previous phone had bad battery life and was looking a bit lacking in features. When I saw the LG Viewty on offer at Littlewoods Direct for £134.00 on Orange (so a straight swap on the sim card) I purchased one.

Upon receipt I put on the screen protector and charged it, ready to give her gift. I also checked it worked and all looked good. After almost a month of playing with it, I must say that it has mainly good points. Nice screen, clear call quality, good signal, nice user interface, very good camera, good games, overall pretty good. However, the bad points make it a bit of a let down.

First of all, it has a touch screen. Well, this is very hit and miss. Sometimes you poke and prod it and nothing happens. You see sliding arrows on the screen, so you think you need to swipe your finger across (thanks iPod touch and iPhone), but alas you don't, instead you have to prod it. The battery life is also pretty poor. This handset is hardly used to make calls, so not a power user in any sense, yet it needs charging every other day. It is also quite bulky, a lot thicker than my iPhone.

I suppose what I am trying to say is, don't expect what one would call a proper touch screen experience. If you accept that, then it is an average, or just above average phone. Some nice features and good camera in here, make it a reasonable purchase.
