Advantages: Excellent sound quality, all expected features, nice looking
Disadvantages: Touchscreen sensitivity occasionally poor, disapointing camera
The LG Viewty, despite the ridiculous name is a good all round phone and solid introduction to touch screen mobiles.
The menu system is excellent and quick and the touch screen responds well in most situations, particularly texting. The touch screen can also be frustrating however, mine seems particularly lacking in sensitivity in certain menus and seems to lose sensitivity near the top and bottom of the screen. Scrolling with the finger can also be clunky but a handy stylus is provided which does a much better job.
The sound quality and reception is the best I have ever experienced on a mobile phone and the handset feels just the right size and natural in the hand. There are plenty of features, Bluetooth and the FM radio work well. The MPŁ player is good, though a micro SD card will be needed for regular use and storage. There are lots of customisable menu settings and you can use Java animations as screensavers. It is also a nice looking phone and the buttons are in just the right places.
The camera is a huge disappointment for me. I never thought I would use it much but when I do- the picture quality is poor. I hear people say that 5mp is good- but that does not necessarily make for a good camera and people should not be fooled by this. Image quality is like I have seen on most mobiles- poor. Until LG start using decent CCD sensors- phones will never make good cameras.
This is a nice little phone for every day use and very stylish. But its features could be improved and the touch screen needs modifying.
Summary: Great looking and functional phone which needs slight modifications.
