Advantages: Very good camera and stylish
Disadvantages: Sometimes slow and software isn't quick (in my case)
I got this phone Christmas 2008, when it was - and still is - a very popular phone. My main reasons for getting it were tfor the touchscreen and the fact that it looks sleek and stylish! I didn't expect that it would improve on my expectations...
Starting with the downsides first - the touchscreen isn't the most responsive which can be annoying when trying to call or text quickly, especially the latter - it takes some time to master the best technique of using one of the three texting interfaces (keyboard, abc keypad or a drawing pad, clever but I found tricky to master at the beginning). Also, I have found that the software supplied with the phone has a tendancy to crash, or at the very least run slowly. The start up is fairly slow and the battery life is short as well.
However there are many, many advantages: the 5 megapixel camera to begin with is a superb addition to a phone and takes very high, quality pictures (though is a little slow and will always make a noise). There is an inbuilt program which allows you to distort your pictures which can be very funny. The video camera is also surprisingly good, with good recorded sound though there is a limited film. The interface to view the pictures and videos is neat as well.
I really like the fact that there are 3 ways of texting, surely enough choice for anyone. My personal preference is the qwerty keyboard, though unfortunately there is not predictive text with this choice. The mp3 player is good, and the speakers are good quality - very good if setting an mp3 as a ringtone.
Overall I really like the LG Viewty as it is not only a fashionable accessory but also a very capable and usuable phone, especially if you are new to the LG style.
Summary: A very good phone which is easy to use and sleek
