LG Optimus L3
Disadvantages: a lot
This is the phone by boyfriend had bought.
The price is very good value for money, you get a really similar phone to phones other brands such as HTC would charge an arm and a leg for.
The menu is easy to navigate through, all features are easy to find through. The images however seem heavily grained and the picture quality isn't the best and you could easily find another cheap smartphone with better quality. The camera is not good at all has no flash, fails to work in any case in low light settings like my flat, and outside the images are a lot better however and can be extremely nice. The settings on the camera make no difference at all. If your looking for a cheap phone to double as your digital camera, I would look elsewhere.
The touch screen can take a long time to respond at times, when your browsing on the internet browser it becomes very frustrating when the phone gets a life of its own and clicks the wrong thing.
A great thing about this phone however is the memory, 1gb of memory already installed may be a useful thing for you if like me you tend to loose the little sd cards everything you take it out. It has no need for an sd card and could probably double as an mp3 player with all the space it has on it. The inbuilt radio was also a nice little feature allowing us to listen to radio one on boring bus rides. The sound quality however is awful without headphones and begins making vibrating sounds on everything you put it on.
The look of the phone is overall quite ugly, it seems to be a little stumpy black rectangle with ugly silver plastic back and bottom, he hasnt had this phone long, but the phone looks about a year old already with all the ugly scratches down the side of the plastic which seem to be quite easy to get.
The battery life was a lot better than I expected, the phone will last about 2 full days then need to be charged, which is quite an advantage. The wi-fi has an annoying habit of stopping working at crucial moments and at times not even working for us at all. The browser along with the screen specs made it very difficult to read anything on any website, zooming in and zooming out is annoying, and trying to read through a news website proves just about impossible with the phones own life, changing pages. The challenge of this phone is to zoom in, zoom out, until you can read the articles and clearly see the letters, sadly sometimes this is just impossible and even attempting to get different browsers didn't work :(
overall, this phone would be wonderful to get a teenager for their first phone, the phone, can support facebook, ebay and twitter.
However, if your looking for something a bit better, I'd defiantly go elsewhere
Summary: Cheap, but not worth it
