Stylish but not very easy to operate (LG Shine U970)

Advantages: Good and sturdy, with clear, big buttons and good battery life

Disadvantages: illogical menus, klunky to use, navigation difficult

I got the Shine as an upgrade from my previous contract phone. It was recommended by the chap on the phone, and to be honest, I wasn't too bothered as long as I could just call and text on it! However, compared to other phones I've owned, it's not great. You can't actually activate loudspeaker until the other person has answered, making it rather inconvenient to make a call while doing something else. There are no 'sensible' standard ringtones and even on the loudest setting, it's not loud enough! I often miss calls when it's in my bag, even on loud. I like the design and the buttons are nice and big, and generally, the phone's good and solid and sturdy (mine's survived many drops!) but ergonomically it's not great. The scroller function is annoying and difficult to operate and when you use the buttons, there can sometimes be a significant lag between operations. The menus can also be confusing and some features are illogically stored within the menus. There's not much memory for MP3s, although i don't use this function much so not too bothered really!

Summary: If it's free on contract, fine. I wouldn't pay for one though.
