Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: No ringtones or logos
All my friends and family were getting fed up of being diverted straight to my BT answer phone when calling my house. This is due to me being on the Internet all day everyday. I think the time had come for me to get myself a mobile. I wanted something cheap and I most certainly wanted pay as you go. That way, when I run out of money near the end of the month I knew I wouldn’t be able to continue to drum up hefty phone bills. I spotted the Mitsubishi Trium in PC World; this must have been over a year ago when this type of phone had just come out. It was £49.99, which I thought, was a decent price and so I bought it. Since buying this phone, the price has really dropped and at one point, if you spent £50 or more at Tesco you could get your hands on one of these for just a tenner! Although the phone itself isn’t as cool as the Nokia phones and you can’t get endless amounts of ring tones and logos for it, it isn’t ugly or bulky by any means and its curvy shape allows for easy gripping and it slips easily into your pocket. The main number keys are covered by a flip down cover so you won’t be phoning people by accident – for extra safety there’s also a keypad lock. The phone only takes a couple of hours to charge and once charged can last me up to three days, which I don’t think, is bad at all. With a simple press of the number ‘3’ key on the phone you will be connected to the pre pay top up centre where you can top up using a pre pay voucher or using a switch card. The Internet is easily accessed via a shortcut on the main screen so by pressing that and then once more to connect, you are on your way to surfing on your mobile. You can also add a bookmark to all your favourite sites. When I very first got this mobile I could only view certain websites but I was astonished last month when I logged on and found that I could read the text on
every page I tried on the net and I could even check my own mailboxes via the mobile which I though was just fantastic. The phone has a whole load of other features with easy to use voicemail and txt messaging, it gives you a full call log of received and missed calls with dates and times, it has call waiting, a phone book, a nice selection of ring tones, a back light, a scratchpad, currency converter and a very reliable alarm clock which will switch on to wake you up even when you’ve turn the phone itself off! I’m on BT Cellnet with this phone and twice in the last four months, BT has been offering free WAP access for a full month at a time. This is to encourage more people to use wap and it definitely gave me the chance to have a good play about with it without using up too much of my credit. I’m forever low on credit but at least I know that if I run out, the phone is still there and in full working order allowing other people to contact me. For such a cheap little phone, the Mitsubishi Trium Geo has all the features you could need in a mobile and still in good working order after 12 months, I’d recommend it as a good buy to anyone!
