The Motorola C520 was my first mobile phone, back in the day! I was given it by my dad who decided to "upgrade" to the Nokia 402 (which I also received as a "hand me down"...).
The phone is basically a BRICK. It's so big and bulky that it's actually embarrassing to be seen with. The ariel is around an inch long and it does tend to stick out a bit. The buttons on the phone are easy to use and they never broke when I had mine, nor did they sink in like my BlackBerry. The phone is pretty durable and sturdy to be honest. It's not that easy to hold in the hand though as it's so big! I preferred the 3310 as it was a lot smaller than this brick. You can tell that this is a phone from "back in the day" as it does look pretty retro.
The phone has eleven standard ringtones that are monophonic, which is just a standard tone. You can choose which tone you would like by selecting it from the menu. The menu is easy to use and easy to navigate. The phone is pretty basic so there's not much to learn really. The sound quality when talking is clear and it's easy to send an SMS from this phone too.
The battery life on this was amazing! I could go a whole week without charging it and I charge my BlackBerry every other day. If you are looking for a basic phone I would recommend this. You can still buy it off auction sites and I have seen it for sale at the odd car boot.
My first phone!
