Advantages: Slim, with a variety of useful features

Disadvantages: Terrible battery and over-sensitive touch-screen facility

As part of my new contract with Vodafone, I upgraded to this funky-looking new mobile, the successor to the V8. Motorola seem to have a decent name with regard to quality products, and I'd had one before. The 'phone retailed last year at £220, but I got a large discount. When asked by the Sales Assistant why I wanted this one, I replied "Because it's slim and sexy, just like me." Seriously.

Being a 3G mobile, the V9 has many enhanced features like rolling video, multi-mega-pixel camera, Connectivity, Bluetooth, internet access to check those vital footie scores when you're travelling, recent call function, email, etc. In terms of general reliability, I've had this for about a year and a bit and it hasn't needed to go in for repairs yet. I've also dropped it several times, and it still functions okay. So, from that perspective, the device is robust and obviously durable.

On the downside, this 'phone is a ' screen touch feature' appliance, and has an annoying habit of playing tunes and things if you're wearing tight or whatever trousers that rub against the front of it. This may be okay for some, but not me when I'm in meetings and have ostensibly turned the thing to 'vibrate' or silent' modes.

Also, the battery tends to run down quite quickly if you're conducting a lengthy call. Apparently, this is a regular, negative aspect of Motorola mobiles, and is an ongoing problem that the company are yet to resolve. But, on balance, there are worse devices out there.

Summary: Expensive, if not on a contract discount
