Advantages: Decent features, sturdy phone, looks nice, ok power consumption

Disadvantages: Buttons drop off with time, annoying charging functionality

For somewhere in the region of the past 18 months, I have been using this phone as my primary means of communicating with people. I am happy to report that in general, it is ok to good.

I got this phone as a present from my father, so I cannot comment on the price. I would have expected to have paid in excess of £100 for it, though, as it's very shiny and has plenty of useful features and functions.

It has the basic functions that you'd expect a phone to have nowadays, such as texting, picture-taking and video-recording. It also can double as a music player; you can insert a small 1Gb memory card into the phone to ensure you have plenty of space to store your music. It also has internet access (limited by your network package, of course) and plenty of calender and calculator type functions.

It has Bluetooth capability, but you need to wave it around in front of the Bluetooth device you wish to connect to, preferably while saying something like 'Phone, this is laptop, laptop this is phone' before it starts working properly.

The option to use stored mp3s as ringtones and message tones sounds brilliant, but in practice it is severely flawed. 9 out of 10 mp3s I have attempted to use in this way have resulted in ringtones far too quiet to hear, even though the mp3 files themselves are fine.

The main navigation buttons have fallen of, but the phone is still operational, which is lucky as I'd have had to throw it away otherwise! It also incredibly annoying that if you charge it when it runs completely out of battery you cannot use it while it is charging; you must allow the phone to charge a bit, unplug it, turn it on and then plug it back in again.

It is ok in terms of power consumption, requiring charging only every few days. It can be exceedingly annoying when it runs out of battery, though - it chimes and vibrates every few minutes to let you know, thus using more battery! This option cannot be disabled, which seems very silly.

It only comes with 2 basic games, Tetris and Sudoku, which is ok as you do not purchase a phone to lay games with, and if you have and internet access deal with your network supplier you can always download more.

In summary, though the phone is shiny and does the job it is required to do, there are several flaws that could have been avoided. It is a decent phone, and I am quite pleased with it, but as soon as I have enough money I shall be buying one that is slightly more upmarket and slightly less prone to having bits of it drop off unexpectedly.

Summary: The Motorokr Z6 is a decent phone, no better or worse than your average phone.
