Advantages: Small size, Colour Screen, Camera attachment
Disadvantages: Poor User Manual, Occasional poor camera connection, iTAP can slow down texting.
The T720i is Motorola's first venture into the world of camera phones. It is the upgrdaded version of the T720 in that it comes with an add-on camera and longer battery life. The phone is a clam shell design (which seems to be becoming quite popular now). It also features an external display to give you info such as who is calling, time, etc. The camera is one of only 2 on the market that I know of that can rotate 180 degrees so you can photograph yourself (not that you'd want to if you look like me). The other is the Samsung V200. The internal colour screen is larger than on most other colour handsets and supports 4096 colours which should be more tham adequate for most users (unless you demand a very high level of detail in your photos). As far as the phone itself is concerned the reception is every bit as good as the Nokia 3330 I used to have. The phone has Motorola's version of predictive text input called iTAP. This can take some getting used to because, unlike other phones such as Nokias, iTAP makes you press "SELECT" after every word wich can slow down the texting process. The phone also features the usual voice dialling though this is where you realise how poor the instruction manual is as it tells you that the phone has voice dialling but forgets to tell you how to set it up. To set up voice dialling for a particular number you have to stroe the number in the phone and not on the SIM card, select "Voice Name" and then press "RECORD". The camera can sometimes become detached from the phone accidentally and also when the camera is first attached the phone occasionally doesn't detect it. You just need to remove the camera and re-attach it. All in all though a very good handset that should prove a valuable asset to most mobile users. The title "A Shooting Star" comes from the fact that this phone can shoot photos and is a st
ar in my opinion (even though the instruction manual certainly isn't

- 20/04/03 I've never got on very well with Motorola phones - like some of the others who've commented I'm a Nokia person! Interesting to read your opinion though! |

- 20/04/03 You haven't really told us whether it works as a phone. I found that Motorola's are pretty crappy in comparison to Nokias and wouldn't touch them unless they take a major step forward. |
