Advantages: It works, Moto GP is back!
Disadvantages: Freezes after Wap Use
As time goes by we all know that whatever Mobile Phone you have is going to go out of fashion - or if you go on a new contract a lot of the time you?ll find that the only way to get it is to get a new handset with it - so even if you want one or not - you get a new phone, the latter happened to me when I ended up getting my Motorola T720i, but nowadays when I look back - I'm glad I did. So then - what sort of stuff can you expect to find on the T720i then? Well rather than just give you a big jumbled up paragraph - here have a bullet-point list: * Functionality * Wap Browser * Polyphonic Ringtones * Detachable Camera * Flip-phone * Great Games * Organiser et al * Other Stuff So what Yours truly is going to do is break this review down into a little bit about each of the above points, and see how we feel at the end! Ok? good: ~Functionality~ It works don't it! Well yeah it does, in the space of time I've had it I've had to have it sent away once as it wasn't receiving any texts at all, but I think that was just a minor fault - the only other thing I've really experienced was it does have a tendency to freeze up after using the Wap Browser, but again that's a very rare thing. To get around the menus, well at first I'll warn you that it isn't easy, it isn't easy at all, and you will need to sit down and read the manual all the way through but once you know what you're doing you?ll be away in no time! Calls wise - well it seems to pick up both my own voice quite clearly and I've only rarely had problems hearing the caller as well, so no problems there! ~Wap Browser~ A Lot better browser than that you'll find on Nokia Phone's (My other handset is the 3510i - very shabby!), when you log on you'll be taken to whichever page your network has deemed to be their homepage (min
e chooses its own Page for a homepage) but a couple of quick keys here n there and you've got a mobile internet in your hands - so long as your battery is fully charged you'll find that the browsers actually quite quick, and is very very clear on the screen (again a failing of the Nokia Browser), with nothing being too hard to see. ~Polyphonic Ringtones~ First off don?t go foolishly paying for them.......... you fools. Go to www.ringtonenation.com and get them for free - anyway on the T720i there is no option to create your own tune. but you can download them easy enough....... which is nice. ~Detachable Camera~ Hmmmmmmmmm, it's average - very very average. The pictures are extremely blocky and the slightest hint of not being in natural light and you have no chance at all of seeing the picture you're taking, in the 3 months I've had this phone I've only actually saved one photo on the phone - the rest were just too bad, because of that I couldn't give you any idea of what the memory for pictures is like, but it is just as simple to actually have a proper camera with you - then at least you'll know you?re going to be able to take good pictures. ~Flip Phone~ It's a Flip-Phone, it flips open - that is all. ~Great Games~ I say Games when really I mean Game - remember MotoGP on the Master System and later on the MegaDrive? Well I do - it was awesome, and the full version of it comes bundled with this handset, at times the controls are a bit picky (you can use the number-pad or a little cross-hairs at the top of your handset), but it is as responsive as you?d ever want, and is true to its original format, which IS a good thing. If Moto-GP isn't your thang (philistine) then you can pay for other games to download either from Air-Time Providers wap sites or any of the sites you see advertised in supplements with weekend newspapers, I still have Moto-GP bu
t know of people who've changed their games and they're as happy as I am, so its up to you. ~Organiser et al~ Well its an Organiser - if you want you can set an alarm-clock to go off once only, once a day or other random settings like that and you'll find that it does wake you up (which I can guarantee otherwise you'd be reading one un-employed Tripley right now) and you can set the alarms tones to be whatever you want (at the minute mines The Darkness). As well as all this there is also the standard Diary reminder, Calendar, Calculator and they all work fine - but if you're really looking for any of those features I'd recommend buying a stand-alone rather than relying on a mobile phone to do it for you. ~Other stuff~ First off Charge-Time, it takes about 6 hours to fully charge a handset - and if you leave it turned on without using it you can expect that charge to last around 3-4 days, however if you're talking on the phone a lot I'd expect it to more likely last 2. Text Message wise, well again it has everything you need - predictive texting, a memory of which messages you've sent and the option to 'send to many' (as in send a message to more than one person at once) - all of which are pretty handy, there's also MMS Messages which I wouldn't bother with (again, what's the point!) but the memory for texts is ok - 20 1 page messages, and if a message goes over 1 page then it takes that many up (errrrr meaning if a message is 2 pages, it takes 2 message slots - you get the picture don?t you?). Finally you can also personalise the phone to your own settings, such as have your own wallpaper behind the options on the screen, have a screen-saver and generally make it your own T720i rather than just another phone. So I?d say it's a good phone - not a great one, but good enough to get by with.
