Motorola have never been one step ahead of the competition in the mobile phone market, and that is why they have never been market leaders. They stick by their convictions that people want to call other people from remote locations and nothing else.

Well maybe people do. There aren't many ringtones on the T180 and all but about 2 will be instantly out of the running. There is an average sized screen that can display three lines of text message and there are no games or T9 or wap or anything else. But it doesnt matter because it does what it says on the tin and it does it very well.

Old Motorolas had the exact same interface but with some seriously annoying problems, like that you couldn't use your phone book for text messages so you had to have all your numbers wrotten down or memorised anyway. Well all these problems have been ironed out and the result is a functional phone which is easy to live with.

It isn't big and it isn't ugly and it isn'y heavy. It has a nice keypad which works well. The battery cover never falls off. It doesn't have a big aerial. It sounds fine. The menus are okay and not confusing. As far as I am aware it is available on all networks. Everything about it is good, its just that there isnt a lot more too it than phoning and texting, and at the end of the day, extra features lose their fun value very fast anyway, so why not buy a bargain like this?
