Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Hard to use, poor reception
Its getting hard to find a solid phone and good cell service in the USA. The phone services went from competing madly for our contracts to coming off with a rude indifference now that the market is saturated and the whole population is locked into 56 year contracts for phones. Hey trivia question, after the USA, which country has the most Cell phones in Use? Answer will be at the end, and let me know if yoiu knew it in comments..... I have been through about 6 phones in the last 8 years. Sometimes they break, sometimes I break them, sometimes they fall in front of a 400,000 pound locomotive. And then one got dropped in the Lake. But I always get the entry model free one that comes with signing up with a one year calling plan. This time around it was this Motorola talkabout. Of course they promised me the world; two days standby and two hours talking. You know what, I wish I could comment on whether or not this is true. See my phone never works long enough for me to figure out if it is good for two hours talking. It can not hold a signal worth diddly squat despite being dual band. It is essentially worthless. The company gives me all these free minutes and free long distance, well I guess they can since I can't use it anyways since my phone never works. Then this phone doesn't have a clock on it so I have to wear a watch. That makes me mad. Instead I get to see some diamond and "Phonebook" when I look at my phone. That just annoys me. Like I need to rely on a phone book, why would I bother, I can't ever get a connection anyways so why should I store numbers? Then when you try to call it starts beeping, you have to push an unnatural key to resend, like you would think you should push "send" but you have to push "end" to resend. Then the phone rings right in your ear when it gets a connection and starts dialing. Maybe this is all my fault for being stingy and j
ust getting the bargain free model but I deserve a better phone than this. This is my worst one ever and I used to get those audiovox ones which are junk. Everybody gets mad and hangs up on me without my having upset them. Then this phone makes all sorts of noise when you unplug it or plug it in. I don't think it should be noisy like that with the factory pre-sets. My worst experience with this phone was one day, the first day I got it, and yes I was sitting at the waiting room at the garage and I started playing with it, putting in all the numbers of my friends and family...Here's a fat girl moment...as if 255 preset numbers are enough!!!! So anyways I put in all these numbers for like an hour. It is really annoying everyone else there too. I can see them squirm with every beep. I finally get it all figured out and then all of a suddn my phone goes into Hebrew, I am not joking, this phone can do Russian, English, French and Hebrew (no German????Why? Because they buy the really cool hi-tech stuff from Nokia, thats why). So the only language I can not dicypher, I mean I know what that Chai thing is and I know what menatzchin means but I didn't even know if phones get read right to left or not. basically I was screwed, I didn't think it was a big deal until I noticed my ringer was also off (slash through the bell)so here I am unable to get calls, my phone talking Yiddish or whatever and i had no way of fixing it. Of course Motorola's phone lkine was closed for the day. I managed to look at my book and after about a zillion tries I went through the right series of procs to reset my phone to the installed presets, of course wiping out my whole directory. Also this doesn't do e-mail but has caller ID and keeps track of all the people you call and who called you...that is Ok if you want it. Another goofy aspect is that you can't get other batteries for it, the batteries are like dry cells but diffeent a
nd you can't get spares (that I know of) but if you took your battery off it would fall apart. Don't buy this phone. Answer to the trivia question. China, 1.3 Billion people 100 million phones. nHow many car adapters do they sell a year or do they make cell phone hannds free kits for bicycles and rickshaws?
